Federal University of Kashere was established in February, 2011 (Establishment Act 2015) with the mandate to increase access to and quality of University education in Nigeria. The University, which currently has Four (4) Faculties and a Postgraduate School with 42 Undergraduate and 46 Postgraduate Programmes respectively, is poised for accelerated expansion and excellence in academic activities.

Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Gombe

Job Description

• The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University.
• He/She is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day to day effective management and coordination of library services in the University.

Qualifications and Experience

• Candidate shall possess a PhD in Library Science/Library and Information Science with at least fifteen (15) years cognate experience in University Library out of which five (5) must be as a Deputy Librarian in a recognized University.
• The candidate must possess NYSC Discharge Certificate, Exemption Certificate/Certificate of Exclusion as the case may be:
  • The Candidate must possess good Leadership qualities, be of proven integrity and resourceful manager of human and material resources.
  • The candidate should also have an evidence of registration with the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) and he/she must not be more than 65 years of age at the time of assumption of duty.
  • Candidate should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable Journals and ability to initiate, undertake and supervise research, as well as considerable professional and administrative experience to run the library of a University.
• In addition, the applicant must possess skills in managing small and large libraries particularly, in areas of library oriented softwares and systems (SURPASS, Lucidea Integrated Library Systems, Koha ILS, L4U, OPALS, Destiny Library Manager. Handy Library Manager. Handy Library Manager, Insignia library System, Access-It Library. MODERNLIB, Atriuum, Librarian, Readerware, etc).

Age:

• Applicant must not be more than sixty five (65) years of age at the time of appointment.

Health:

• Applicant must enjoy good health to be able to endure the duties of the University Librarian.

Condition of Service

• The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years.
• The position attracts all rights and benefits of occupants of such office in the Nigerian University System.
