Job Title: Training and Operations Manager

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary 

  • Our client is looking to hire a Training and Training Operations Manager who will be responsible for planning, monitoring and evaluating training programs and trainees and supervise the development of training programs that support the organisation’s overall strategy and goals.

Responsibilities
The Training and Training Operations Lead performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:
Monitor and Evaluate Training and Trainees:

  • Oversee trainee performance to ensure a seamless transition from one part of the program to the other.
  • Manage, enforce, and track trainee contracts and points-rewarded in a consistent manner to ensure timely and accurate trainee enrolment, attendance and payment.
  • Identify trainees and alumni for events (alumni panels, conferences, excursions); track trainee involvement with onsite guests (external facilitators, visiting employers, guests at networking events)
  • Prepare trainees for donor/outreach meetings, graduation, etc

Plan and organise the Training:

  • Plan and coordinate high-quality training cohort activities.
  • Plan and run training orientation; in collaboration with the Admissions team, coordinate orientation activities and ensure that trainees become acquainted with resources, staff, and program expectations
  • Prepare and Coordinate training schedules.
  • Teach and manage soft skills courses as needed; grade assignments as needed.
  • Serve as an advisor for trainees.
  • Serve as a role model by reflecting and maintaining the organization values and operating principles while preparing trainees for job placements.

Coach, Train and Support the Training Team:

  • Lead, support, develop and coach a core team of instructors and advisors; coach staff on following advisory curriculum in-line with trainee growths and expectations.
  • Run weekly Academy team meeting and participate in staff training.
  • Work with the Academy trainer to oversee trainee evaluation and recognition process.

Curriculum Development:

  • Lead and supervise the development of training programs that support the organisation’s overall strategy and goals.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a training management role, preferably within a non profit or a corporate environment.
  • Strong understanding of training methodologies, adult learning principles, and instructional design.

Must have Skills:

  • Leadership: Capacity to provide guidance and direction that others willingly follow and positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.
  • Facilitation Skills: Ability to set the stage for others’ success through training or teaching without doing the work for them.
  • Relationship Management: Ability to network to build and develop strong relationships and social connections with stakeholders and partners on behalf of the organization to get them excited about partnering with the organization while building the reputation and brand of the organization.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness
  • Positive Outlook: Adds to the morale and productivity of the work environment by encouraging others and consistently looking for ways that ideas and processes can be done.
  • Independence: Ability to work autonomously and produce effective and efficient results without needing abundant direction from others.
  • Decision making: Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
  • Organize and Plan: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities
