Project Objective
USAID/Nigeria has engaged the PEARL mechanism to conduct a violence and conflict assessment (VCA). The purpose of the VCA in Nigeria is to explore the following preliminary questions:

  • Where are the geographic hotspots for conflict in Nigeria? Where are the key conflict zones in Nigeria, and what are the distinguishing features of each area? Are there specific regions that are more prone to conflict, and if so, why?
  • What are the dynamics, trends and triggers related to conflict in Nigeria?
  • What practical steps could USAID/Nigeria take to make its programs and assistance more conflict sensitive? What types of interventions should USAID/Nigeria prioritize or begin doing to mitigate conflict?
  • Results will be disseminated through various learning products, such as stakeholder presentations, written reports, and workshops.
