Senior Sales Representative

The Role

Advisory Lead

Your Role at Stears

  • As an Advisory project lead, you are one of the intellectual leaders within the Advisory division. You will lead project teams that use data and insights to solve clients’ problems.
  • These clients are the world’s largest and most impactful policy and investment decision-makers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience in a structured work environment. An advanced Master’s degree and previous work experience in an operational, consulting, research or related role is preferred.
  • Demonstrable track record of structuring problems, synthesising information and research data into relevant and actionable outputs understandable by non-technical stakeholders, ideally in a professional environment
  • High analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to apply critical thinking to solve ambiguous problems and to spot trends in data, aggregate, disaggregate, compare and combine datasets to answer questions.

Senior Frontend Engineer

Responsibilities

Strategy and planning

  • Collaborate with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager on road mapping and visioning for the product
  • Communicate product release plans, risks, implications and timelines with stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the wider team to solve content, data and architecture problems

Product development

  • Join daily scrum meetings with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager to plan and ensure the execution of ongoing sprint work

Quality

Senior Analyst (Economics)

The Role

  • Why it’s important: Stears is on a journey to produce the gold standard of news analysis, data and information on the continent. As the publication which provides the most in-depth analysis on Nigeria’s business environment, the analyst responsible for covering this area will become a thought leader in Nigeria’s macroeconomy and development and lead our opinions and coverage on the future of the economy.
  • What do analysts do: Our analysts work in the Insights team that produces in-depth content for paying subscribers. Our Insights team’s approach is to focus on identifying, understanding and explaining trends, transformations and patterns in the digital economy.
  • You will spend some of your time discussing with the other economists, researchers & editors in the Insights team, a significant portion of your time researching the innovation ecosystem & fintech. However, you will spend most of your time writing long-form, analytical articles like Nigeria’s digital naira: how would it work and How the CBN knocked Rubies Bank. You may also spend some of your time working on special data projects like COVID-19 in Nigeria: State Index.
  • Who you will work with: This role is part of the Insights team within the Intelligence division. You will report to the Editor in Chief. You will also work with other researchers, economists and writers in the Insights team. In addition to working with the core team of editors, you will work with other internal stakeholders, including the Head of Intelligence.

  • This role is part of the Growth team. You will report to the Growth Lead, but you will collaborate closely with Corporate Communications, Content Marketing, Insights Analysts, Design, and Product.

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least 3 years experience working in social media management, preferably in a hybrid B2C and B2B company.
  • Experience defining social media strategy to deliver brand awareness, audience growth and engagement.

Insights Lead (Economics)

The Role

The research and analysis our team produces helps our customers prepare for opportunity and empowers them to act with confidence when making strategic decisions. Our insights provide quality and actionable intelligence to the public and private sector, which cuts across different economies on the African continent.
  • Our economists deliver deep insights into the themes that drive policy, financial markets, and capital flows.

What it covers:

  •  As the Lead Economist, you will be a key intellectual driver within the Insights team.
  • Your responsibilities will include identifying skills gaps and areas for improvement within the core economics team, promoting and representing Stears at external events and internal meetings, and delivering deep insights into the themes that drive policy, financial markets, and capital flows.
  • You will also play a key role in spearheading our pan-Africa expansion, producing data-driven insights across the African continent.

  • The team produces high-quality insights that answer the most important questions about Africa for decision-makers. This role puts you in the perfect position to be the principal commentator on key macroeconomy issues for the Stears team.
  • The Insights team constitutes a team of economists and data analysts that provide best-in-class research, data-driven analysis and insights. Team members deliver tailored 1:1 presentations, participate in key industry forums, and contribute to thought leadership through thematic papers, events, and media. Our long-form insights cut across issues such as Should the CBN increase interest rates in Nigeria? and Why closing Nigeria’s land borders was a mistake. You may also spend some of your time working on special data projects like the COVID-19 in Nigeria: State Index. This is an exciting time to join the team as you will also lead our initial pan-Africa expansion to produce data-driven Insights across the African continent.

  • At least 4-5 years of experience working as an economist. Preference would be given to candidates with an Africa-wide perspective. If you are a strong economist with an entrepreneurial mindset, this is the perfect role for you.
  • Strong collaborative skills and can work across the different cross functional teams at Stears. In the past, you have managed complex projects and timelines effectively
  • Strong research skills to produce accurate and insightful analysis. Must also demonstrate the ability to apply mental models to support crisply-argued articles that analyse trends and developments in the innovation ecosystem
  • Must be able to collect, structure, analyse, interpret or extract insight from raw data

  • Serve as an intellectual leader within the Insights team, providing leading analysis and insights on macroeconomic issues.

Project Manager

This role is within the Stears Advisory Division. You will primarily report to the Head of Advisory and may also be required to report findings and insights to the CEO and Management Operations team. You will be involved in

Data reporting and analysis

  • Monitoring and enforcing consultant compliance with time tracking tools, reporting non-compliance to senior management
  • Researching and applying the most relevant metrics for tracking and analysing people and project data to different stakeholders (e.g. project lead, CEO, people operations manager)
  • Analysing consultant capacity and utilisation data—across project types, tasks, periods etc.—synthesising data into insights and recommendations, and presenting to senior management to help drive people management decisions

Project management on client projects

Externally, 

  • Approaching clients and team members in an organised and knowledgeable manner to deliver clear requests for information
  • Arranging and participating in client meetings and supporting client management, including periodic check-ins and project updates
  • Develop project plans and deliverables schedules with the project team lead and enforce the timely delivery of outputs.

Internally,

  • Developing the project plan for delivering on project requirements

  • Ability to manage people on tight deadlines, undertake long-term planning, define scopes, manage timelines and distil large, complex problems into clear instructions for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to initiate open and candid coaching conversations at all levels
  • Proven track record of leading teams demonstrated by previous experience managing a team or small teams to deliver measurable outcomes
  • Ability to communicate clearly and compellingly in writing and speaking
  • Ability to address sub-standard work or work that does not meet Stears’ expectations.
  • Ability to manage relationships with multiple external stakeholders, including clients, regulators, suppliers, etc.
  • Background working in a research or consulting environment is preferred.
