Officer, MHPSS – Damboa

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Provide support to field teams for implementing MHPSS activities, providing services, and organizing program activities.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities
Daily program implementation

  • Support the oversight and organization of the work of MHPSS case management staff that includes case management, roving social workers, psychotherapists and psychiatrists working on the field within the area
  • Follow up on and actively participate in the recruitment of IMC MHPSS field staff
  • Assist in preparing work schedules, validated by all concerned parties and oversee the proper commitment and respect to their implementation
  • Support proper planning in terms of logistics, procurements, human resources and budgeting.

  • Attend and represent IMC MHPSS Department in interagency and local coordination meetings as requested

  • Monitor programming so that it is on track in absence of direct supervisor; reporting daily on important issues that require supervisor feedback and decision making. Assist in the development of M/E tools and mechanisms
  • Ensure the proper implementation and utilization of M/E tools and mechanisms on a regular basis

Capacity building

  • Support capacity development assessment

Reporting

  • Ensure that data is being collected by MHPSS CM team on regular basis (daily, weekly and monthly)

Midwife LN

JOB SUMMARY 

  • Provide maternal and newborn health services for women of all ages, including obstetric and newborn care to pregnant women and their babies, according to International Medical Corps obstetrical and maternal and newborn health protocols. The midwife should use universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and will work under the supervision of a specialist doctor to ensure their health conditions and avoid complications pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy, delivery, and post-delivery.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • The Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for assessing, preparing, and monitoring patients before, during, and after anesthesia, and ensuring their safety and comfort. The Nurse Anesthetist also participates in the management of anesthesia equipment, supplies, and drugs, and contributes to the quality improvement and evaluation of anesthesia services. The Nurse Anesthetist works under the supervision of a Physician Anesthesiologist or a senior health staff member, and collaborates with other health professionals, such as surgeons, nurses, and technicians.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of patients and obtain informed consent for anesthesia.

  • Administer general, regional, or local anesthesia, using various techniques and agents, such as intravenous, inhalational, spinal, or nerve block.

  • Perform duties of Sterilization Nurse in case assigned by the Supervisor, including sterilization and cleaning of medical equipment, instruments and supplies. He/she must also retrieve contaminated supplies and deliver sterile supplies, maintain inventory, and prepare sterile instrument trays for surgeries, examinations, and procedures.
  • Participate in the quality improvement and evaluation of anesthesia services and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Nurse, Nutrition

JOB SUMMARY:

  • The principal objective of the Nurse, Nutrition role is to manage acute malnutrition as part of the basic health services in line with the national and international guidelines. The Nurse, Nutrition is responsible for nutrition rehabilitation of the admitted children through treatment of medical complications of Severe Acute Malnutrition and prevention of further deterioration of the nutrition situation through provision of therapeutic feeds, routine and specialized medicines, health, and nutrition counselling. The Nurse, Nutrition is also responsible for ensuring quality of services through capacity building and technical support to the staff in SC and OTP in the management of complications associated with Severe Acute Malnutrition in line with the SC national and international protocols.

Doctor, Stabilization Center

JOB SUMMARY:

  • The incumbent will be responsible for the overall implementation of CMAM and IYCF in collaboration with other nutrition and SMOH staff and integration with other programs. This position will facilitate good practice and ensure compliance to applicable implementation of national CMAM guidelines.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The stabilization center MD ensures the implementation of quality clinical care of children admitted to the center in accordance with National and international standards.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • To undertake a morning and evening ward round daily with Nurses and Nutrition Assistant ensuring patients are visited where appropriate.
  • To make an entry in the patient’s notes as appropriate following ward rounds or any other patient examinations, communication, or procedures.
  • To receive a hand-over report on patients from the duty SC Nurse and Nutrition Assistants
  • To supervise the daily clinical management of all patients in conjunction with the SC CMAM Assistants on duty with support from Nutrition Manager.
  • Supervise the stabilization center staff (SC Nurse, Nutrition Assistant, Cleaners, Guards), directly provide ongoing leadership to the project team, and oversee implementation and coordination of activity plans to ensure targets are met.
  • To liaise with SC Nurse and Nutrition Assistants regularly (at least every 3-4 hours) to check on patient progress, or more frequently if their condition necessitates and or on calls relating to patients care.
  • To take blood samples from patients as may be required from time to time.
  • To respond to calls from the ward relating to patient care
  • To administer intravenous medications / therapy if required,
  • To undertake emergency procedures as required (including resuscitation), taking the lead as necessary.
  • To ensure that all consumables used during procedures shall be correctly charged to patient.
  • Coordinate to ensure that all available drugs and consumables used during procedures are strategically stored in SC.
  • Ensure donated medicine and consumables are only prescribed for patients and not for staff unless on emergency first aid and under authorization from Nutrition Manager and Coordinator.
  • Mentor and provide on-the-job training on stabilization care and documentation to nurses and other health workers deployed to the SC.
  • Supervise the use of medicines, medical supplies, nutrition-related commodities, and data tools in the SC.
  • Liaise with the nutrition officer, CMAM assistants and Care Group Promoters Supervisors to ensure and facilitate a timely referral of complicated SAM cases from the OTPs to the SC.
  • Participate in the development and review of SC program monitoring and evaluation tools where necessary.
  • Ensure timely collection, compilation, and analysis of quality data as well as production of quantitative and qualitative reports regarding all SC activities.
  • Liaise with MoH, WHO and other stakeholders for nutrition program towards a successful SC project. Maintain work schedules/plans for SC nurses, nutritionists, nutrition assistants and cleaners in the SC.
  • Supervise and support the outreach care group supervisors/facilitators to implement quality community mobilization for the successful outcome of the CMAM and IYCF program activities.
  • Update the nutrition manager on the implementation of all SC activities on weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
  • Assign tasks among SC staff according to the variation in workload, holidays, unplanned absences, or illness.
  • Ensure referrals of discharge cases from the SC to the nearest IMC OTP and are closely monitored smoothly.
  • Follow up management of stocks with the storekeeper; monitor rates of SC consumption and ensure supplies are ordered in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all criteria are respected and understood by the SC teams, including admission, discharge, and transfer from the various components of the program, all medical and nutritional protocols, and their application/OTP/SC/CG services.
  • Ensure that SC beneficiaries, caretakers and members of the community are always treated respectfully.
  • Participate in regular nutrition team management meetings and represent the Nutrition Manager in carrying out some related tasks.
  • Report any problems in a timely manner to the nutrition manager or coordinator.
  • Ensure that the SC is equipped with all necessary tools and materials (e.g., MUAC, scales, drugs, F-75, F-100, RUTF, counselling cards, referral guides)
  • Ensure that all SC staff fully complete and sign timesheets monthly for submission to HR/Finance Admin.
  • Ensure payments made locally by nutrition team are compliant with the Procurement and Authorization Chart with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Ensure assets under nutrition team are safe guarded and included on the monthly/quarterly/annually update of assets as may be required.
