Job Title: Social Media Manager

Location: Maryland, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time (Hybrid)

Responsibilties
News Sourcing & Publishing:

• Monitor local and global news, trends, and conversations in real time to identify fast-breaking stories worth posting
• Draft and publish timely, accurate social posts across platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, etc.) within tight turnaround windows
• Coordinate with the editorial/content desk to verify facts before publishing

Content Ideation:

• Generate original content ideas (not just repackaged news) that reflect Pulse’s voice and audience interests
• Pitch formats, series, and trends the team should jump on
• Collaborate with the Storytelling and Amplification units to bring ideas to life.

Advertising & Sponsored Content:

• Schedule and publish paid/sponsored posts and ad creatives per brand and client specifications
• Ensure ads are tagged, formatted, and posted correctly across all relevant pages
• Track posting deadlines for advertiser deliverables.

Event Coverage:

• Receive and review video content from the Event Coverage team for social media publishing.
• Coordinate with the Event Coverage team to understand the event schedule, key moments, available content and publishing priorities.
• Publish event content across relevant social media platforms in line with the agreed content plan and timing.
• Ensure event coverage is posted promptly and consistently while maintaining platform-specific formats and standards.

Community Engagement:

• Monitor comments, DMs, and mentions; respond promptly and in Pulse’s tone of voice
• Flag trending conversations, complaints, or opportunities to the wider team
• Foster and grow an active, engaged online community.

Reporting:

• Track post performance (reach, engagement, video views, follower growth) across platforms
• Compile weekly/monthly performance reports with key wins, learnings, and recommendations
• Flag underperforming content patterns and suggest adjustments

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in Marketing, Communications, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in social media management, content creation, community management, or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of major social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, Twitter and their respective best practices.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics.
• Experience with content creation tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
• Ability to develop creative content ideas and translate them into engaging social media posts.
• Ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously.
• Knowledge of current social media trends and digital marketing practices.
