Job Title: Site Engineer

Location: Gudu, Abuja (FCT)

Reports to: Project Manager / Construction Manager

Job Summary

• The Site Engineer is responsible for managing and supervising daily site activities, ensuring that construction works are executed according to design, specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
• The engineer coordinates with contractors, vendors, and the internal team to ensure successful project delivery, safety, and compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day construction activities on site to ensure work is progressing as planned.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents accurately.
• Ensure quality control by inspecting materials, workmanship, and construction methods.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, laborers, and site workers to ensure efficient workflow.
• Monitor project timelines, identify delays, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports on progress, materials usage, labor, and site conditions.
• Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Assist in setting out, leveling, and surveying the site using appropriate equipment.
• Participate in project meetings and relay site updates to the Project Manager.
• Liaise with consultants, architects, and suppliers for site-related issues.
• Maintain documentation such as site diaries, inspection records, and materials inventory.

Qualifications and Skills

• B.Sc. / HND in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or related discipline.
• 2–5 years proven experience in site supervision or construction engineering.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and construction documents.
• Knowledge of construction methods, safety protocols, and engineering standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good leadership and communication abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and site management tools.

Preferred:

• Membership of a professional body (e.g., COREN, NSE, NIOB) is an added advantage.
• Experience with residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with construction practices and regulations in Nigeria (or relevant country).
