Job Title: Senior Mobile Engineer

Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Mobile Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality mobile applications across Android and/or iOS platforms.
• The successful candidate will work closely with Product, UI/UX, Backend, QA, and other engineering teams to translate business and product requirements into scalable, secure, reliable, and user-friendly mobile solutions.
• The ideal candidate should have strong software engineering fundamentals, extensive experience building production-grade mobile applications, and the ability to take ownership of mobile products from architecture and development through deployment, monitoring, optimisation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Mobile Application Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust mobile applications for Android and/or iOS.
• Translate product requirements, wireframes, and technical specifications into functional mobile solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code.
• Implement responsive and intuitive user interfaces in collaboration with UI/UX designers.
• Develop reusable components and establish coding standards and best practices.

Technical Architecture:

• Participate in defining and implementing mobile application architecture.
• Make appropriate technology and framework recommendations based on product requirements.
• Design solutions that support scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
• Conduct technical reviews and contribute to architectural and engineering decisions.
• Identify technical debt and develop strategies for its resolution.

API & Backend Integration:

• Integrate mobile applications with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and other backend services.
• Work closely with backend engineers to define API requirements and resolve integration issues.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, data handling, and API communication.
• Handle offline functionality, caching, synchronization, and error management where required.

Performance & Security:

• Monitor and optimise application performance, memory usage, battery consumption, and network efficiency.
• Identify and resolve crashes, bugs, bottlenecks, and performance issues.
• Implement secure coding practices and protect sensitive user and business data.
• Ensure applications comply with relevant security and privacy requirements.

Testing & Quality Assurance:

• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and UI tests.
• Collaborate with QA engineers to identify, reproduce, and resolve defects.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce quality standards.
• Ensure applications meet defined acceptance criteria before release.
• Conduct regression testing and support continuous quality improvement.

Deployment & Release Management:

• Manage mobile application builds, releases, and deployment to relevant app stores.
• Work with DevOps and engineering teams to establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage application versioning and release documentation.
• Monitor production releases and respond promptly to critical issues.

Product Collaboration:

• Work closely with Product Managers to understand business objectives and technical requirements.
• Provide technical estimates, identify implementation risks, and contribute to product planning.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Translate user and business needs into practical technical solutions.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship:

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level mobile engineers.
• Conduct and participate in peer code reviews.
• Promote engineering best practices, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering team’s processes and standards.

Maintenance & Continuous Improvement:

• Monitor applications after deployment and proactively identify areas for improvement.
• Implement new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and platform updates.
• Keep abreast of emerging mobile technologies, frameworks, tools, and industry best practices.
• Recommend improvements to existing applications and development processes.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of professional experience in mobile application development, with significant experience delivering production applications.
• Strong experience with at least one major mobile development ecosystem:
  • Android: Kotlin/Java, Android SDK, Jetpack/Compose.
  • iOS: Swift/Objective-C, SwiftUI/UIKit.
  • Cross-platform: Flutter/Dart or React Native/TypeScript.
• Proven experience taking mobile applications through the complete development lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and application architecture.
• Demonstrable experience integrating APIs and third-party services.
• Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD processes.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
