Job Title: Senior Generator Technician – Mechanical 

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

About the Job

• Perform major mechanical repairs, overhauls, and component replacements on diesel generators ranging from 15kVA to 2000kVA, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Carry out advanced fault-finding and root-cause analysis of engines, alternators, fuel systems, cooling systems, and control panels, providing effective and timely solutions to restore optimal performance.
• Lead full engine overhauls, cylinder head servicing, turbocharger replacement, crankshaft inspections, and other critical engine works to extend equipment lifespan and reliability.
• Develop and execute scheduled service programs, including oil and filter changes, belt alignment, coolant checks, load testing, vibration analysis, and operational performance assessments to minimize downtime.
• Prepare comprehensive service reports, diagnostic findings, and generator status updates, documenting all maintenance activities, parts replaced, and recommendations for future interventions.
• Supervise the selection, installation, and proper use of genuine spare parts, ensuring alignment with company standards while monitoring stock levels and requisitions.
• Manage both in-house workshop activities and field/site repairs, including engine dismantling, alignment, reassembly, testing, and commissioning of generators after major works.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, ensuring knowledge transfer on repair techniques, troubleshooting methods, and safe work practices.
• Collaborate with electrical, service, and project teams to address integrated technical issues, ensuring seamless delivery of solutions to clients.
• Interface with clients to understand operational issues, explain technical solutions, provide recommendations, and support invoicing and service documentation.
• Enforce adherence to safety policies, manufacturer guidelines, and company procedures, while identifying and reporting unauthorized parts usage, improper practices, or potential equipment abuse.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas remain clean, well-organized, and compliant with environmental, health, and safety requirements.

Qualifications / Experience

• HND, BSC in Mechanical, Electrical, or Technical Degree or Equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 and above -Proven experience as a maintenance technician or similar role.
