Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

• An Accountant needs to handle the financial transaction of a business daily and needs to keep a proper record of its financial statement.
• The accountant needs to track the transaction and prepare a report regarding the financial status of a business through the balance sheet, profit and loss account, and cash flow statement.
• All major decisions of business operations are taken based on accounting records and it clearly shows the financial position of the business.
• The professional is responsible for preparing tax returns and they involve recording, interpreting, classifying, analyzing, reporting, and summarizing the financial data.

Responsibilities

• Providing financial information and strategies to management by researching, analyzing and recommending beneficial accounting strategies.
• Periodic reconciliation of the company’s accounts.
• Documentation of financial transactions by updating account data
• Recommending financial actions and summarizing the current financial status
• Collecting data, preparing balance sheets, and profit and loss statement.
• Uploading payment to the company’s bank payment portal.
• Supervise accountants in the company and ensure proper documentation and filling of financial information.
• Ensure timely preparation and payment of staff monthly salaries.
• Prepare monthly financial and sales reports to be submitted to the Managing Director.
• Maintaining accounting control by preparing policies and procedures
• Develop and implement various inventory control procedures and monitor movements
• Prepare Bank reconciliation statements. . Securing financial data by completing database backup
• Maintaining financial security by following internal controls
• Prepare VAT, PAYE and ensure compliance with all tax legislations.
• Preparing payment by verifying documentation and requesting disbursement

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Tax, Accounting and Finance
• Possession of ICAN or ACCA is a must and an added advantage
• Extensive knowledge about the data entry management
• Knowledge about Microsoft packages and accounting software(s)
• Able to lead and work in a team and produce quality output under tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
• Quick learner with a positive attitude.
