Job Title: Safety Officer (Mining Site)

Location: Kama-Otto, Nasarawa
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

• We are seeking a dedicated Mining Site Safety Officer to ensure compliance with safety standards, minimize workplace hazards, and promote a culture of safety at our mining site.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure that all operations comply with applicable safety standards and regulations, proactively identifying and addressing potential risks.
• Conduct daily safety inspections of the site to identify and rectify hazards, ensuring a safe working environment.
• Organize and conduct safety training sessions to enhance employees’ awareness and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist in investigating accidents and incidents to determine root causes, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
• Participate in the development and execution of emergency response plans and drills to ensure site readiness for emergencies.
• Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions, and prepare reports for management review.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree / HND qualification with 1 – 4 years work experience.
• Familiarity with Nigerian mining safety regulations and standards.
• Proven work experience in a safety role, preferably in the mining industry.
• Relevant safety certifications
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and communicate safety policies to employees.
• Ability to work onsite in potentially challenging environments and actively participate in inspections and audits.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify hazards and propose effective solutions.

Salary
N90,000 – N140,000 / month.
