Job Title: Research Writer

Location: Ibadan, Oyo or Lagos

Role Overview

• Our client is looking for a skilled and curious Research Writer to help turn research ideas into compelling academic papers, white papers, and thought leadership content.
• We welcome candidates with strong evidence of research writing and publications, including those currently completing advanced degrees or building their academic careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, write, and contribute to white papers on governance, development, and indigenous knowledge systems
• Draft and co-author academic and policy-focused publications, including peer-reviewed articles
• Write opinion pieces, briefs, and thought leadership articles for international and mainstream media
• Conduct desk research and contribute to the organization’s Insights newsletter
• Support the presentation of research at conferences, policy forums, and stakeholder events
• Collaborate with internal teams, external researchers, and support junior researchers or interns
• Provide research support for fundraising proposals and donor materials

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in African Studies, Political Science, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field
• Master’s degree or PhD (completed or in progress) is an advantage, but not required
• Demonstrated research and writing experience, with evidence of publications (academic, policy, or media)
• Strong writing skills for both academic and non-academic audiences
• Interest or working knowledge in African governance, development, or indigenous knowledge systems
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with senior leadership

Salary
N200,000 – N250,000 / month.
