Nigerian Cities Survey – Our client, a PhD candidate studying the interaction of labor markets, urbanization, transportation and gender, is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Research Manager (Contract)

Locations: Abuja (FCT), Kano and Lagos
Employment Type: Short-term Contract (approximately 3-4 months)

Job Description

• We would like to hire a contract research manager to manage data collection for 3000-5000 urban residents of large cities in Nigeria.
• Most of the data will be phone surveys, with a handful of in-person surveys depending on timing and budget.

Responsibilities
The research manager will be expected to:

• Managing a team of data collectors,
• Tracking productivity with Googlesheets,
• Performing routine data quality assurance with Stata or R,
• Programming surveys using the XLSform standard and deploying them on SurveyCTO or Kobotoolbox,
• Preparing survey protocols,
• Training and evaluating enumerators virtually on Google Meet,
• Performing spot checks and back checks, and
• Performing basic data cleaning to prepare for data analysis.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:

• BSc / BA in any of the Quantitative Social / Management / Pure Sciences (an MSc/MA would be preferred)
• At least 3 years experience as a research manager or senior research associate managing teams of data collectors for large-scale data collection.

Requirements:
Technologies you must be proficient in:

• Google sheets,
• Stata or R or Python (at least one of these)
• SurveyCTO or Kobotoolbox (at least one of these)
• Google Meet
• XLSform programming
• The research manager should be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as communicate in a effective and timely manner with the research team to appraise them of the progression of the fieldwork.
