Women in the New Nigeria (WINN) is a leading women-led and women’s rights non-governmental organization established in 2010 and legally incorporated in 2013, that focuses on women’s empowerment and enhancing the lives of youths. WINN has presence in 17 states in Nigeria, including FCT Abuja, and an international presence in eight (8) countries: North America (WINNA), WIN Ghana, WIN Mozambique, WIN South Africa, WIN Sierra Leone, WIN World UK, WIN Niger, WIN Cameroun.
We ensure that the structures and systems with which women, girls, and people with disabilities interact on a daily basis, such as safe spaces, health facilities, education, legal services, and community engagement activities, to name but a few, are accessible and conducive to the empowerment and support of all stakeholders through our programs.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Protection Field Monitor

General Position Summary
- The Field Protection Monitors will lead and oversee the implementation a range of protection activities, including GBV prevention activities, across the areas of implementation. These include information sessions in the communities, Adolescent Safe space sessions / activities and regular participatory protection assessments of potential/selected beneficiaries.
- The role includes supervision and working closely with Adolescent Safe Space Coordinators, Mentors and community Volunteers.
- The post holder also works in close cooperation and coordination with other team members and reports to the Protection Officer.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Conduct regular field participatory protection monitoring and assessments, using as much as possible an age, gender and diversity approach, in order to fully understand protection concerns and priorities.
- Design and monitor GBV prevention activities, ensuring these activities are informed by target beneficiaries and correspond to their priorities and safety.
- Monitor Adolescent safe space sessions and activities by the Mentors and coordinators
- Facilitate monthly review meetings with community mobilizers, community volunteers, mentors, coordinators and the community across implementation sites
- Assess the resources available to the targeted displaced community to increase their own safety and protection.
- Enhance and facilitate discussion on main protection concerns and response capacity within the displaced and the host communities.
- Identify, individually advise and assess the needs of the most vulnerable individuals, particularly women and girls at risk, and the available response opportunities.
- Conduct vulnerability assessment and identify cases for assistance according to pre-defined criteria.
- Refer protection cases to the Protection Officer and/or relevant agencies, including updating the database on case referral and follow up.
- Report on special needs cases and advise on type of assistance, following discussion with beneficiaries.
- Develop monthly visit plans on assessing, re-assessing and following up cases in coordination with other (field) staff.
- Ensure dissemination of clear and reliable information on service provision and other pre-selected key topics.
- Conduct information sessions, record feedback (comments, suggestions) and report results back to Protection Officer on issues of concern with recommended areas of intervention
- Submit weekly and monthly activity plans, reports and recommendations for assessed persons and identified beneficiaries to the Protection Officer.
- Maintain constructive relationships with municipalities, other local government institutions, local NGO partners and other international organizations in coordination with the other team members
- Contribute to capacity building of local organizations, community groups, and stakeholders
- Prepare and maintain in a well-organized manner comprehensive files for each managed case, as well as keep a report of information gathered during field visits and in-house meetings.
- Conduct duties in strict compliance with WINN Code of Conduct and the principle of confidentiality.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the Line Manager;
Relevant Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant professional experience of not less than 1 year ;
- Familiarity/prior experience with WINN and its persons of concern (including internally displaced persons and refugees-returnees) would be a distinct advantage;
- Experience with NGO sector would be an advantage.
- Excellent computer skills is an added advantage.
- Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.
- Strong reporting and report writing skills.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills including sensitivity
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- High regard toward preserving confidentiality of work-related information and data
- Flexibility, creativeness, tolerance and maturity

- Ability to speak English, Hausa and local language is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of the situation of protection context in Borno State.
- Previous experience in protection programs
Finance & Compliance Management:
- Ensure compliance with donor and WINN regulations related to emergency programming.
- Ensure case management fund is utilized effectively
Influence & Representation:
- Identify, build, and manage collaborative partnerships with consortium partners, sub-grantees, donors, local governments, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively to ensure overall project targets and donor obligations are met.
Security:
- Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by organizations leadership.
- Proactively ensure that team members operate in a secure environment and are aware of policies.
Organizational Learning:
