RID is a youth focused Christian non-profit organisation/ faith-based organisation established in 2009. Our current decade long programme, Agenda TO35 aims to mobilise, equip and position Nigerian youths in positions of power with the ultimate goal to see Nigeria become a developed nation. The organisation’s strategic target is on the development of next generation leaders, especially those interested in politics and governance.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Programs Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full Time

Position Summary

  • The program officer provides program development, management and technical leadership in the area of politics and governance, education, policy and civil society strengthening within the Christian community.
  • The position requires a person who has a wealth of understanding of the development space, who is spirit-filled, committed to the kingdom’s mandate, able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people, works well under pressure, thinks strategically and acts proactively.
  • Applicants must show strong experience and skills in program management including program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, fundraising, financial management, budgeting, volunteer management and stakeholders engagement.
  • They should also have expertise in civil society strengthening including civic engagement, leadership development, advocacy as well as community-based and institutional development.
  • Performance requires administrative and organizational skills, successful track record in business development, working knowledge of civil society capacity building, excellent oral and written communications (fluency in English), attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and the capacity to track and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
Programmatic:
Provides program development, management and technical leadership in the area of politics and governance, education, policy and civil society strengthening within the Christain community. Scope includes:

  • Provide program management leadership and oversight in program development, implementation, research, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight in civil society strengthening in the areas of leadership development, advocacy, civic engagement, governance, institutional and community-based development;
  • Prepare high quality written materials including program proposals, donor reports, training materials, grantee agreements, research reports and other program documentation;
  • Provide overall program management support to the Executive Director including implementation tracking and updating of plans as needed, monitoring of program budget, human resources support, management of sub-agreements and consultancies;
  • Manage business development activities as needed;
  • Managing the day to day activities of TO35 projects as needed; and
  • Maintain excellent written and oral communication with colleagues, project partners and consultants.

Administrative:
provide administrative leadership and support to the Executive Director as needed. Scope includes:

  • Working with partners, initiate the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of TO35 project management systems, processes and tools;
  • Develop, manage and maintain project plans and budgets;
  • Facilitate program performance and communications with team; and
  • Assist with team logistics including travel arrangements, event planning and compliance with security and communication protocols and licensing requirements.

Relationships:

  • Supervised by the Executive Director and
  • Coordinates work activity with relevant program team members and partners.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s (Preferably Masters) degree in related discipline, and 3 – 5 years demonstrated depth of experience and effectiveness preferably in a CSO context working with NGOs, specially focus on at least one of TO35 areas of work (Faith-based organisation strengthening, community development, politics and governance, education, policy)
  • Business development experience including a successful track record in management of grantwriting, donor relations, proposal management and communication;
  • Project management experience including technical conceptualization and management of program design, monitoring and evaluation related research and reporting;
  • Experience in civil society capacity building including civic engagement, leadership development, advocacy as well as community-based and institutional development in the christian community
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;
  • Ability to manage and prepare regular internal TO35 and donor reports;
  • Experience in program budget development and financial reporting;
  • Strong work ethic, personal integrity, and sensitivity to people from different countries/cultures;
  • Above average skills in Microsoft Office suite, data processing, email, Internet browsers, and other software helpful in advancing the efficiency of the team.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid, From Home and within an office environment.
  • Travel may be required from time to time.
  • No special working conditions.
