The Lagos Leather Fair was created in 2017 by Femi Olayebi, founder and Creative Director of FemiHandbags, a premium leather handbags and accessories brand based in Ibadan, Nigeria. The Lagos Leather Fair (LLF) is an annual event with the primary aim of creating awareness of the potential value of the industry by providing a much-needed platform for leather designers to showcase their products and their talent with a focus on finding sustainable solutions to move the industry forward.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Programs Manager

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Job Type: Full-time

Overview

  • Lagos Leather Fair (LLF) is seeking a talented, dynamic and proactive Programs Manager to lead the planning and execution of the different initiatives related to Lagos Leather Fair, develop ideas throughout the year that will culminate in the successful execution of LLF2025.
  • The Programs Manager will be responsible for securing partnerships, financing, resources, and sponsorships, as well as for creating an engaging theme and comprehensive event plan for next year’s event.

Responsibilities
Program Development and Management:

  • Conceptualise and design year-round initiatives that promote the goals and vision of Lagos Leather Fair.
  • Generate innovative ideas for related activities through the year.
  • Develop a detailed program plan for LLF2025, including objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure the alignment of all programs with the overall event theme and goals.

Sponsorship and Partnership Development:

  • Identify and engage potential sponsors and partners to support various initiatives.
  • Develop compelling sponsorship proposals and maintain strong relationships with existing sponsors and partners.
  • Coordinate with sponsors to ensure their requirements and expectations are met.

Financial Planning and Management:

  • Prepare and manage budgets for all initiatives and programs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial accountability.
  • Monitor expenditures and provide regular financial reports to stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with exhibitors, industry experts, and attendees to gather feedback and improve program offerings.
  • Explore the possibility of expanding the LLF mandate/vision to other countries on the continent.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, panel discussions, and other events that align with the program theme.

Marketing and Communication:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote initiatives and programs.
  • Oversee the creation of promotional materials, social media content, and press releases related to programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent communication with all stakeholders.

Team Leadership and Coordination:

  • Lead and coordinate an internal support team.
  • Delegate tasks and ensure team members meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Provide clear direction, set performance goals, and conduct regular evaluations to ensure program success.

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Work closely with the internal support team to plan and execute LLF2025.
  • Oversee the development of the event theme, schedule, and programming.
  • Manage event logistics, including venue selection, layout design, and onsite coordination.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Conduct post-initiative and post-event evaluations to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Event Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, event planning, or a similar role.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing programs and large-scale events.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
