The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK), Kaduna State, Nigeria was established by an Act of Parliament of 2025, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s assent into law of the bill sponsored by Distinguished Senator (Barr). Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District in the 10th Assembly. Earlier in the 8th and 9th Assembly, a similar bill was sponsored by Senator Danjuma Laah for the establishment of a University of Science and Technology. Senator Katung’s bill gave a new and specific focus to the University in order to address specific needs relating to access to specialized education and man power needs in Nigeria.

The University inherited the infrastructure of NOK University, which was taken over by the Federal Government in 2024. It is located in kachia town, about 110 kilometers from Kaduna, and 90 km from Kafanchan town in Kaduna State. The University has a land mass of 173 hectares. Kachia is a semi-urban town with mixed population of tribes such as Adara, Jaba, Bajju, Gbagyi, Ikulu and Fulani. It is easily accessible from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria through Bwari-jere and Kurmin jibrin road (about 180km) or through Abuja-Keffi-Kwoi (about 170km). Kachia town has potential for industrial as well as Agricultural development. There are a few Agro based industries such as Ginger processing plants and Rice mills. There are various military training institutions in Kachia. The paramount ruler of Kachia is known as Agom Kachia.
