Job Title: Principal Accountant

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Job Summary

• This is a senior leadership role for a highly experienced finance professional with a proven track record in managing complex financial systems, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning.
• The successful candidate will lead the finance department, oversee all financial operations, and serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on financial matters.
• This role requires a high level of integrity, analytical acumen, and the ability to manage a multidisciplinary finance team in a dynamic and compliance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the finance unit, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management and stakeholders
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans
• Ensure full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (e.g., IFRS, FIRS, , tax laws)
• Oversee payroll, vendor payments, receivables, etc
• Ensuring timely resolution of audit findings
• Provide strategic financial insights to support executive decision-making
• Manage relationships with banks, auditors, tax authorities, and other financial institutions
• Implement and maintain robust accounting systems and ERP platforms
• Mentor and develop junior finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage)
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent is required
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in accounting and senior leadership role
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls
• Proficiency in accounting software and enterprise financial systems
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
• Ability to thrive in a structured, fast-paced, and highly regulated environment.
