Job Title: Piping Designer – Junior / Intermediate / Senior

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Contract

Job Purpose

• To prepare, develop and update piping design drawings and documentation for oil and gas, industrial and engineering projects in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and modify piping layout drawings, piping plans and isometrics.
• Develop piping drawings from engineering design information, P&IDs, specifications and project requirements.
• Prepare and update piping arrangements, equipment layouts and piping details.
• Extract and interpret information from P&IDs, plot plans, equipment drawings and 3D models.
• Develop piping isometric drawings and related design deliverables.
• Check piping dimensions, routing, elevations, clearances and accessibility.
• Incorporate engineering comments and update drawings accordingly.
• Coordinate piping design activities with process, mechanical, structural, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
• Participate in site surveys and field verification where required.
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable project specifications, codes and standards.
• Maintain proper revision control of drawings and design documents.
• Support preparation of material take-offs and piping-related schedules where required.

Typical Requirements
Junior

• OND/HND/B.Sc./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or related discipline
• Candidates must have at least 7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Any candidates who apply without this experience will have their CVs rejected immediately.
• Basic knowledge of piping design and engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or relevant CAD software.
• Ability to read P&IDs and engineering drawings.

Intermediate:

• Relevant engineering/design qualification.
• Practical experience in piping design for oil & gas, industrial or construction projects.
• Good knowledge of piping layouts, isometrics and engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in relevant CAD/3D design software.

Senior:

• Strong experience in piping design on oil & gas/industrial projects.
• Ability to independently develop and review piping design deliverables.
• Experience coordinating piping design with other engineering disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of applicable piping codes, standards and client specifications.

• AutoCAD Plant 3D
• AVEVA E3D/PDMS
• SmartPlant 3D
• MicroStation
• Other relevant piping design software
