We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Pharmacy Supervisor

Location: Kebbi
Employment Type: Contract

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the general smooth running of the pharmacy and manage supply chain processes according to MSF standards while ensuring its efficiency, operational availability good stock management in outreach and pharmaceutical care.

Accountabilities

  • Storage, inventory management and supply processes, hygiene and safety procedures, tools, as well as protocols (against rodents and other pests), establish adequate quality controls and archive them, to guarantee good storage conditions (temperature, humidity, exposure to light) and the availability of drugs and medical equipment
  • These tasks will be carried out in compliance with MSF protocols, national regulations and in cooperation with the logistics and supply department.
  • Coordinate the delivery, receipt, and registration of local and international orders in close collaboration with the logistics department, update stock sheets and inform the operational manager of their status (shortages, surpluses, expiry dates), to permanently maintain safety stock levels and guarantee effective management at central and peripheral level throughout the Kebbi project, Nigeria.
  • Supervise orders for medical equipment and medications to ensure efficient, rational, and appropriate consumption, while respecting budgetary constraints.
  • Control the dispensing of medicines at the institutional and Community level, in accordance with medical prescriptions, by informing patients on how to take and store them, to guarantee their therapeutic progress.
  • Ensure the efficient supply of other pharmacies managed or supported by MSF on the project, based on orders and stocks, and using the cold chain if necessary. Control and analyze orders from care units, in order to prevent stock shortages or prevent medications from expiring.
  • Supervise, in collaboration with the human resources department, the related processes (needs, transfers, recruitment, training, feedback/feedforward, development and internal/external communication) of the pharmaceutical team and nursing staff, to have sufficient team and knowledge, and to improve the team’s capabilities.
  • Report and Record (in Isystock) the consumption of medicines and medical equipment provided in compliance with protocols, alert on unusual consumption patterns and anticipate future needs, to rationalize the budget and guarantee availability in real time, and to make estimates efficiently.
  • Assist in the training of healthcare personnel regarding the dispensing of medications, interactions, and their side effects.
  • Context Specific Accountabilities
  • Manage and control the use of medical and biomedical inputs in outreach, with the aim of promoting effective and rational use in ATFC, ITFC and ICCM.
  • Ensure the establishment and effective use of an input management system and efficient supply in quality and in real time, taking into account the necessary proactivity to avoid any form of disruption.
  • Promote a management policy resulting in reducing losses through expiration and damaged products, sleeping stocks and overstock.
  • Support the medical team in ordering inputs, continually informing them about the status of the central project stock.
  • Provide effective support in the management, storage and delivery of controlled products, their traceability and their use according to WHO, MSF and Nigerian regulations.
  • Ensure monitoring of the use of inputs in the units by producing a regular report or on request, of the stock status (inventory, expired and damaged, justification of use, etc.)
  • Ensure the secure routing of any delivery or return of items from the service units to the central pharmacy and vice versa.
  • Organize or participate in briefings, training and internships for staff involved in the management and use of medical inputs, including logistical elements (Ex: Cold chain)

Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
Education:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) with a valid license with the pharmacist council of Nigeria (PCN).

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience post qualification experience in a pharmacy, hospital or medical warehouse
  • Desirable: Experience with MSF or other INGO.
  • Languages
  • Knowledge
  • Essential: Local languages (Hausa, Fulani, Suru)
  • Desirable: English (mission language)
  • Essential: Basic knowledge of Microsofot Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical care and drug management
  • Familiarity with PCN regulations, NAFDAC guidelines, and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP)
  • Knowledge of Good Storage Practice (GSP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
