Job Title: Medical Officer II

About the role

• The role involves providing clinical care in family medicine under appropriate supervision, managing patients across out-patient and in-patient settings with decreasing levels of supervision, and contributing to the safe and effective running of the family medicine service.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients in family medicine with decreasing levels of supervision, escalating appropriately.
• Participate in clinics, ward rounds, on-call rotas and procedures as required, contributing to audit and quality-improvement activities.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and current MDCN registration/licence in line with internal clinical policy.
• Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team, coordinating care with other services and supporting managed-care/HMO processes through evidence-based, cost-effective practice.

Requirements
Education:

• Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognised institution.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of post-NYSC clinical experience, including time at Medical Officer I grade or equivalent.

Required Skills:

• Sound clinical knowledge relevant to family medicine
• Sound clinical record-keeping
• Competent use of hospital clinical systems
• Effective communication with patients, families and colleagues
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
