Job Title: Mechanical Technician

Location: Okpella Plant, Kogi

Job Summary

• The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the hands-on maintenance, repair, and servicing of plant mechanical equipment and systems.
• This role ensures operational reliability and safety by executing work orders, troubleshooting issues, and supporting plant operations as needed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, conveyors, kilns).
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical faults promptly.
• Document maintenance activities and report issues to supervisors.
• Adhere to safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Participate in plant shutdowns, overhauls, and emergency repairs.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or sectional heads.

Requirements
Education and Work Experience:

• Trade Test, National Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Technology or related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a cement or heavy industry environment.

Skills and Competencies:

• Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, as well as mechanical measurement instruments.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical skills.
• Teamwork and effective communication abilities.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
