About the Opportunity

• We are recruiting on behalf of a client in the construction industry for an experienced and commercially driven Managing Director to provide strategic leadership, drive business growth, and oversee the company’s Construction, Interior Design, and Procurement business units.
• The ideal candidate will be a hands-on business leader with a proven ability to win clients, secure high-value contracts, manage complex projects, build high-performing teams, and scale a business profitably.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales:

• Develop and execute business growth strategies to achieve revenue targets.
• Identify, win, and manage new clients and strategic accounts.
• Lead tender and bid submissions and negotiate high-value contracts.
• Build strategic partnerships with developers, banks, hotels, and corporate organizations.

Operations & Project Delivery

• Oversee construction, interior design, and procurement projects from start to finish.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
• Review and approve BOQs, contracts, project schedules, and other critical project documentation.
• Drive HSE compliance, risk management, and operational efficiency.

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and mentor key departmental heads, including the Site Engineer, Head of Design, Procurement Manager, and Accountant.
• Build a strong performance-driven organizational culture.
• Develop and implement effective systems and SOPs across all three service lines.
• Drive accountability, employee development, and team performance.

Finance & Governance

• Take overall responsibility for P&L, cash flow, budgeting, and financial performance.
• Monitor project profitability and ensure effective cost control.
• Ensure CAC, tax, insurance, and other regulatory compliance.
• Provide regular performance reports, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to the Board/Company Owners.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building, or a related field.
• An MBA will be an added advantage.
• 8–10 years’ experience in construction, interior design, procurement, or a related industry.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a senior management/leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering projects valued at ₦200 million or more.
• Experience managing teams of 10+ employees.
• Professional certifications such as CORBON,
• COREN, NIID, PMP, or CIPS will be an advantage.

Key Competencies:

• Strong commercial and business development acumen.
• Ability to sell, negotiate, and close high-value contracts.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction, design, BOQs, and procurement.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and team-building skills.
• Strong client relationship and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Proven P&L responsibility and budget management experience.
• Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, BOQ software, and CRM tools.
