Job Title: Machinist (Lathe and Drill Operator)

Location: Ijebu Imushin, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machinist to join our team.
  • The roles requires operating various machine tools and equipment to produce precision parts and tools.
  • Also machine operations and maintenance techniques, as well as adept at interpreting blueprints and schematics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the lath, milling machine and drill press is clean and in a good working order, electrical and mechanical.
  • Ensure that the Lathe, milling machine and drill press is regularly lubricated.
  • Ensure that all machining tools provided, drills bits, cutting bits, collars, boring bars are in a good state ready to be used.
  • Must be able to read technical drawings.
  • Must be able to make correct use of supplied measuring instruments, Ferrier’s, Dial gauge, Micrometers in order to fabricate required parts.
  • Ensure that the cutting fluid of the lath, milling machine and drill press is regularly.
  • Regularly give feedback to the technical manager on the condition of machine tooling
  • Measurement of Press plates in the workshop to determine if the press plates need to be machined back to minimum and maximum specifications as per the drawing.
  • Machining of press plates back to the required dimensions
  • Cleaning and kitting of press plates after tolerances have been checked or reworked.
  • Fabrication of shafts, bushing, and parts using the lath, milling machine, and drill press.
  • Accurate measurement and machining of parts that need to be made in-house
  • Ensure that best environmental practice is observed after job completion.
  • Ability to work with the maintenance and breakdown teams to reduce downtime.
  • Ability to work on flexible timing (weekend if needed) to ensure that broken-down machines are fixed. (manufactured and fitted)
  • Report all machine functionality to the Technical Manager where resources are needed.

Requirements

  • Qualification: B.Sc, OND / HND qualification in Metal Construction and Fabrications
  • Experience: 3 years and above
  • Gender: Male preferably
  • Age: Not more than 45 years.

Abilities / Requirements:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain machine tools.
  • Review blueprints, drawings to understand requirements
  • Measure and mark raw materials.
  • Program mills, drills, and lathes.
  • Inspect and test finished products.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Maintain production and quality logs.
