Job Title: Machine Operator

Location: Ketu Ikosi – Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • We are hiring a Machine Operator who has a strong understanding of machinery and woodworking processes and is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating a variety of machines such as CNC routers, lathes, saws, and sanders to cut, shape, and assemble furniture components according to specific design requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret technical drawingsand specifications to determine machining requirements and dimensions for furniture components.
  • Set up and operate a range of machining equipment, including CNC (Computer Numerical Control) routers, Edge banding, and saws, to fabricate wooden parts and components.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each machining operation, ensuring proper alignment and setup.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and production quality.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts, to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Inspect machined parts for defects, deviations from specifications, and quality issues, and make necessary adjustments to machining parameters or tooling to meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other members of the production team, including designers, engineers, and assemblers, to coordinate workflow and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of machining activities, including production output, material usage, and equipment maintenance, using computerized systems or manual logs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with additional vocational training or certification in machining or CNC programming preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) working as a machinist in the furniture industry.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tools, and materials used in woodworking.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and ability to perform calculations related to dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain precision and accuracy in machining operations.
