Responsibilities

• Investigate document of title relating to land and conduct searches at the Land Registry, Office of the Surveyor General and any other offices in Lagos State.
• Draft Deed of Assignment, Contract of Sale, Deed of Gift, Lease, Sub-Lease, and any other forms of documents capable of transferring title in land.
• Review Deed of Assignment, Contract of Sale, Deed of Gift, Lease, Sub-Lease, and any other forms of documents of title and advise the Company on the interpretation of each clause in previous title documents
• Advise the company, and draft legal opinion which will determine whether the Company will or will not acquire an interest in Land.
• Liaise with any Government agencies such as the Office of the Surveyor General, Land Registry, Office of the Registrar of Titles, Lagos State Building Control Agency, and other relevant agencies in Lagos State created to transfer an interest in Land to ensure that the relevant documents are obtained.
• Follow up with the relevant agencies and offices in Lagos State to ensure that Certificates of Occupancy, Survey, Governor’s Consent, or any other related documents capable of transferring an interest in Land are obtained.
• Ensure that appropriate payments required to obtain Certificate of Occupancy, Survey, Building Plan, Governors Consent, Registration of Deed of Assignment, and any other related documents are made to the Land Registry, Office of the Surveyor General, Lagos State Building Control Agency, and any other agencies to ensure that the required title documents are obtained.
• Conduct physical inspection on expanse of lands to be purchased by the Company and liaise with the Heads of Families and other principal members to ensure that they sign and witness any title document to be purchased.
• Liaise with the account and marketing departments of the Company to identify he total number of indebted subscribers and draw up strategies on how the debt can be recovered within the shortest possible time for the benefit of the company.
• Write letters of demands to indebt subscribers and liaise with external solicitors to recover the debt through legal means.
• Advise the Company on whether, or not an action should be instituted against a subscriber and prepare legal opinion on the chances of success of the Company in the event it institutes an action.
• Attend Court proceedings whether in Lagos State, or outside jurisdiction with the external solicitors and report to the Company the outcome of each Court proceedings.
• Be aware and discover all relevant laws, either new, old, or amended relating to transfer of title and always bring to the attention of the Company, where need be, the provisions of any of these laws.
• Liaise with the external solicitor to defend the interest of the Company or any of the Directors against any petition, allegations of crime, wanton arrest, and criminal proceedings instituted by any person; natural or juristic.
• Draft and forward letters of undertaken demand and acknowledgment of indebtedness against any indebted subscriber.
• Liaise with the administrative department to ensure that both physical and electronic folders that contains information of each subscriber are kept neatly.
• And any other tasks incidental and related to the achievement and performance of the tasks hereinbefore stated.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• BSc Degree in Law
• Proven experience in real estate law or related fields
• Successful completion of law school
• Excellent communication skills
• Great negotiating skills
• Problem solver mindset
• Clear understanding of the real estate market

Salary
N70,000 – N100,000 / month.
