We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Laboratory Technician I

Location: Offshore, Lagos
Employment Type: Contract
Job Field: Laboratory Analysis – Entry Level

Position Overview

  • The Lab Tech 1 role involves performing sampling and basic laboratory analyses of crude oil, water, and gas streams on the FPSO to ensure quality control and operational efficiency.
  • This is an entry-level position designed for professionals seeking to build expertise in laboratory testing and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform sampling and basic analyses of crude oil, produced water, and gas streams following standard methods, such as:
    • Sediment & Water (S&W) determination (ASTM D4006 & D4007).
    • API gravity determination (ASTM D287).
    • Density determination (ASTM D1298).
  • Conduct basic water analysis, including Total Oil & Grease (TOG) and potable water parameters (pH, Fe, TDS, etc.).
  • Assist in the preparation and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organize samples for analysis.
  • Accurately document results and communicate findings to the operations team.
  • Comply with safety and quality standards in all laboratory activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or certification in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in laboratory operations or similar roles.
  • Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Skills:
    • Basic understanding of ASTM methods and laboratory procedures.
    • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Certifications: Offshore safety certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET) are an advantage.
