We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Konduga Program Coordinator

Location: Borno
Reporting To: BHA Program Manager
Grade: 3

Child Safeguarding

  • Level 3:  The responsibilities of this post may require the post holder to have regular contact with children and young people. In the overseas context, all posts are considered to be level 3.
  • As part of these responsibilities, the post holder will support the establishment of child safeguarding systems, promote a culture of keeping children safe, and ensure that potential harm to children (by our staff and/or as a result of how we do our work) is identified and addressed on an ongoing basis.  The post holder should report and respond to interventions as determined by position-related responsibilities identified in the Child Safeguarding Policy.

The Role

  • The Konduga Program Coordinator is expected to work closely with the BHA Program Manager, he/she will coordinate the implementation of the BHA program in Konduga and Mafa.
  • He/she will work closely with the BHA partners (EYN and GREENCODE) to ensure activities are planned and carried out according to the Detail Implementation Plan (DIP).

Main Responsibilities
Program Support (typically will be at field level):

  • Support field-level technical assessments in coordination with the BHA Program Manager and other SC thematic areas and/or other external sector agencies, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific analysis of children’s needs.
  • With support from the BHA PM and sector coordinators, develop project plans and budgets, contributing towards overall project implementation.
  • With the support of sector coordinators and the PM ensure adequate supervision of all BHA activities in communities with proper community mapping and identification.
  • Ensure proper identification of beneficiaries with support from program officers and MEAL and community committees in all communities.
  • Ensuring project participants in Konduga and Mafa receive a holistic package of services by creating linkages within and outside the organization.
  • Liaising with Program officer coordination, ensure Konduga operations are well planned and implemented
  • Serve as a key point of contact for information (technical and programmatic) on matters related to Konduga and Mafa operations for the BHA program and related SC programmes implemented in Konduga/Mafa.
  • Closely work with the Security team to ensure that all SOPs are duly followed and implemented. Sharing promptly useful information with BHA PM and the SC Security team on the safety and security of staff in Konduga and Mafa at any given point in time.
  • Working with program officers and partner staff to ensure program beneficiaries have adequate information about the food voucher program including the location of vendors, prices of items, and checking balancing and complaint mechanism.
  • With support from the PM and/or other program coordinators, support with inputs in the development of high-quality concept notes and proposals.
  • With the support of the PM, support project implementation to ensure timely delivery of project activities (for example, monitoring against log frames, and individual performance management work plans).
  • Working closely with the PM and/or other senior program staff, support timely program and donor reports on project activities in compliance with internal SC requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.
  • Ensure success stories that have been identified in the program are documented with good practices shared among staff.
  • With support from the Accountability team, ensure accountability is enforced in all project activities as well as ensuring that feedback from children and their families is considered in project design/implementation
  • Work closely with partners and their staff to ensure project activities are implemented on time and within the stipulated quality.
  • To ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter and Red Cross Code of Conduct.

Capacity Building:

  • Identify learning and training opportunities for staff and partner staff and communicate to the PM.

Representation & Advocacy & Organisational Learning:

  • Ensure that Save the Children’s work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies and Government, and support Interagency Coordination forums, advocating for the specific needs of children. This may involve supporting coordination working groups within the IDP camps and host communities or target project sites.
  • Contribute to communications and media work as required through correction of data and information and sharing with the project heads

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:

  • Substantial experience in working in multi-sectoral projects including Food Security and Livelihoods, Nutrition, Child Protection, and WASH sectors.
  • Education to B.Sc / BA level in a relevant subject with relevant field experience
  • A Master’s Degree in a related academic discipline is an added advantage.
  • Five years of experience working with an International Non-Governmental Organization in a humanitarian setting
  • Previous experience in project management and implementation
  • Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation
  • Good presentation and facilitation skills
  • Proven conceptual skills and an ability to think and plan strategically
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to train and mentor staff
  • Proven ability to manage a complex and demanding workload
  • Good computer skills (particularly Excel, Word and databases)
  • Some experience of representation and ability to represent SC effectively in external forums.
  • Knowledge of institutional donors and experience in developing proposals
  • Ability to write a clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
  • Excellent communication and strong influencing skills
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact, and diplomacy
  • A high level of written and spoken English
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of EMMA and market analysis tools
  • Familiarity with FSL, WASH, Child protection, and Nutrition programming
  • Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts
  • Experience in gender, protection mainstreaming.
  • Having an operational experience will be an advantage.

Working Conditions
