Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Description

• We are seeking hardworking and reliable Kitchen Staff to support the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel kitchen.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, maintaining clean and organised work areas, handling kitchen supplies and equipment properly and supporting the kitchen team in maintaining high standards of food hygiene and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, cut, portion, and prepare ingredients as directed.
• Assist cooks and chefs with basic food preparation and kitchen tasks.
• Clean and sanitise utensils, equipment, workstations, and kitchen areas.
• Assist with receiving and organising food supplies.
• Store ingredients properly according to established procedures.
• Support stock rotation and help monitor food supplies.
• Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain a clean working environment.
• Set up kitchen stations before food preparation and service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.

Performance Expectations

• Provide effective support to cooks and chefs during food preparation and service.
• Prepare ingredients accurately and on time.
• Keep workstations, utensils, and kitchen areas clean and organised.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and arranging kitchen supplies.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures consistently.
• Ensure kitchen equipment and utensils are properly cleaned and stored.
• Minimise food waste and maintain proper use of ingredients.
• Complete assigned duties efficiently and support the wider kitchen team.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant, Kitchen Staff, or in a similar role is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, kitchen hygiene, and sanitation.
• Ability to safely handle kitchen utensils and basic equipment.
• Good organisational skills and attention to cleanliness.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team.
• Must be physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Salary
N70,000 – N150,000 / month.
