Job Title: Junior Accountant

Overview

• FMR Agency is recruiting a detail-oriented and commercially aware Entry-Level Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations within a structured retail / food business environment.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, preparing management reports, tracking product costs, and supporting pricing and profitability decisions.
• This role is ideal for a young accounting professional with 1–2 years of hands-on experience who is looking to grow within a fast-paced operational environment.
• Ultimately, you will provide timely financial insights that support cash flow management, cost control, and business profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Record daily sales and expense transactions, post payment vouchers, and maintain updated cash books.
• Reconcile bank accounts weekly and prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements.
• Process payroll and ensure timely remittance of PAYE, VAT, WHT, and other statutory obligations.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, store credits, customer receipts, and aging schedules.
• Track cost of goods sold (COGS) by product category and maintain accurate inventory valuation records.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and cash flow summaries by the 5th working day of each month.
• Generate monthly margin analysis reports highlighting top-performing and underperforming products with recommendations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and financial documentation for management decisions.

Working Hours:

• Monday- Friday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Requirements

• HND / BSc in Accounting or related field.
• 1–2 years practical accounting experience (retail or food business experience is an advantage).
• Part-qualified ICAN / ACCA is an added advantage.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (mandatory).
• Working knowledge of at least one accounting software (Zoho, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
• Strong understanding of basic financial reporting and statutory compliance.
• Commercial mindset with ability to interpret numbers for business decisions.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Must reside within Surulere or immediate environs.

Salary
N150,000 – N160,000 / month.
