We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Interface & Structured Finance Manager

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Deliverables

  • The Interface & Structured Finance Manager is the company’s lead fundraiser, responsible for originating and closing capital across the full spectrum of financing, including equity, senior debt, mezzanine financing, and blended finance instruments.
  • The role manages relationships with development finance institutions (DFIs), export credit agencies (ECAs), commercial banks, and private investors, and is accountable for structuring transactions that advance the company’s energy infrastructure portfolio.
  • It serves as the primary interface between the company and Afrexim Bank and similar institutions, while also identifying and managing the technical and commercial risks that bear on financing outcomes.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Capital Raising & Transaction Execution:

  • Lead the origination, structuring, and closing of financing transactions across equity, senior debt, mezzanine loans, blended finance, and other capital instruments.
  • Engage and manage relationships with DFIs, ECAs, commercial banks, institutional investors, and private equity firms to secure funding for energy infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and present investment memoranda, information packages, financial models, and term sheets to prospective investors and lenders.
  • Lead negotiations on financing terms, conditions, and documentation through to financial close.
  • Support the structuring of concession arrangements, including BOOT and BOT models, gas sales and purchase agreements, and power purchase agreements, in a manner that optimizes financeability.
  • Articulate and manage loan applications and financing submissions to Afrexim Bank and equivalent institutions, ensuring compliance with their requirements.

Investor & Institution Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary interface between the company and Afrexim Bank, managing the company’s role and responsibilities as an Afrexim Intra-African Trade Champion.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all tools, programs, and products available through the Intra-African Trade Initiative and comparable multilateral facilities.
  • Establish, develop, and sustain relationships with a broad network of financing partners, including DFIs, ECAs, commercial lenders, sovereign wealth funds, and private capital providers.
  • Stay abreast of financing market developments, institution-specific programs, and changes in lending policy or appetite that may create or close funding opportunities.
  • Represent the company at investor meetings, financing conferences, and relevant industry events.

Financial Analysis & Modeling:

  • Review, interpret, design, and advise on project finance and integrated financial models used to support investment cases and financing submissions.
  • Conduct financing market analysis and benchmark capital structures, pricing, and terms against comparable transactions.
  • Work closely with project planning and technical disciplines to align financial assumptions with engineering and operational realities.

Reporting & Risk Management:

  • Produce and maintain standardized documentation and regular reporting to top management and other stakeholders, clearly reflecting financing progress, key issues, and risks.
  • Identify and manage technical and commercial risks that affect the financeability of projects, coordinating with planning and technical teams as required.
  • Gather market and counterparty intelligence relevant to financing strategy and share insights with top management.
  • Champion the implementation of financing directives and strategies as approved by management and the board.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of a first degree in Finance, Economics, Law, Engineering, or a related field.
  • An MBA, MSc in Finance, or a postgraduate qualification in a related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in structured finance, project finance, or investment banking, with direct experience in energy or infrastructure transactions.
  • A relevant professional qualification such as CFA, ACCA, CAIA, or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Membership of a recognized professional body in finance, banking, or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrated track record of originating and closing financing transactions, including equity raises, senior debt, and mezzanine or blended finance instruments, from mandate through to financial close.
  • Proven experience engaging and transacting with DFIs, ECAs, commercial banks, and private capital providers on energy or infrastructure projects in Africa or comparable markets.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and presenting investment memoranda, financial models, and term sheets to sophisticated investors and lenders.
  • Direct experience negotiating financing documentation and managing due diligence processes.
  • Working knowledge of the Nigerian energy sector and relevant fiscal, regulatory, and commercial frameworks.
  • Experience managing relationships with Afrexim Bank or similar multilateral and regional development finance institutions is a strong advantage.
  • Exposure to the structuring of concession arrangements, BOOT and BOT models, or project-level financing structures is desirable.
