Job Title: Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer

Locations: Delta, Lagos, and Rivers

Summary

• We are looking for experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineers to join our team on upcoming projects.
• The successful candidates will bring hands-on expertise in hazardous-area control panel design and, critically, implementation of Z-Purge (Type Z pressurization) systems for electrical/electronic control panels installed in classified (Ex) areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and implement Z-Purge systems (NFPA 496 / IEC 60079-2 Type Z pressurization) for control panels located in hazardous areas.
• Select and size purge control units, purge gas supply, and associated instrumentation (pressure switches, flow indicators, alarms).
• Review and interpret P&IDs, hazardous area classification drawings, and control panel layouts.
• Coordinate with electrical, process, and safety engineering teams to ensure purge system compliance with applicable codes and client specifications.
• Prepare and review purge system documentation: philosophy, cause & effect, datasheets, and FAT/SAT procedures.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of control panels with integrated purge systems.
• Troubleshoot and commission Z-Purge and associated control panel instrumentation during installation and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with hazardous area (Ex) standards, including ATEX, IECEx, and/or NEC/CEC requirements as applicable.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Degree / HND in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proven, hands-on experience implementing Z-Purge (Type Z) pressurization systems for control panels in hazardous/classified areas.
• Solid understanding of hazardous area classification and purge/pressurization standards (NFPA 496, IEC 60079-2, ATEX/IECEx).
• Experience with control panel design, PLC/DCS interfacing, and instrumentation loop checks.
• Familiarity with FAT/SAT processes and commissioning of control and instrumentation systems.
• Strong understanding of P&IDs, loop diagrams, and hazardous area drawings.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, process, safety).

Desirable:

• Offshore/oil & gas industry experience.
• Experience with major purge system vendors/equipment (e.g., Bebco EPS, Pepperl+Fuchs, or similar).
• Relevant hazardous area certification (e.g., CompEx or equivalent).
