Ereyi Ventures Nigeria Limited is an indigenous Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Logistics (EPCL) contractor providing integrated technical services to the Nigerian oil and gas industry. The company brings a multidisciplinary team of engineering, inspection, and construction professionals to deliver brownfield and greenfield projects across onshore and offshore facilities, with a focus on asset integrity, tank and vessel upgrades, mechanical and instrumentation works, and terminal automation. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Instrumentation and Control Engineer

Role Objective

• Provide engineering authority for the tank instrumentation, safeguarding and control systems, from design verification through integration, functional testing and operational handover.

Core Roles and Responsibilities

• Own the full instrumentation and control engineering scope for tank gauging, overfill prevention, and safety instrumented systems (SIS) associated with the crude storage tank upgrade.
• Design, specify, and review radar-based Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) systems, level/temperature/pressure transmitters, and their integration into the terminal’s DCS/SCADA architecture.
• Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Cause & Effect diagrams, loop drawings, and instrument datasheets for all new and modified instrumentation.
• Lead SIL verification/validation activities for overfill prevention systems in accordance with API 2350 and IEC 61508/61511.
• Review and approve vendor documentation for smart transmitters, tank gauging systems, and control valves prior to procurement release.
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of instrumentation and control packages, including remote/offshore witnessing where travel is restricted.
• Interface with Automation/PLC-SCADA Engineers to ensure seamless signal integration, alarm rationalization, and HMI graphics accuracy for tank monitoring.
• Investigate and resolve instrumentation-related non-conformances, calibration discrepancies, and loop check failures during commissioning.
• Ensure all instrumentation designs and installations comply with IEC/ATEX/IECEx hazardous area classification requirements applicable to the offshore terminal.
• Mentor and technically supervise Instrumentation & Control Technicians on installation quality and loop-check methodology.

Qualifications and Requirements
Given the safety-critical nature of overfill prevention on crude storage tanks, the requirements below are non-negotiable.

• B.Eng./M.Eng. in Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic, or Control Systems Engineering from an accredited university, minimum Second Class Upper — a Master’s degree in Instrumentation/Control Engineering is preferred and will be weighted favourably over candidates holding only a Bachelor’s degree.
• Ten (10) years of post-graduation experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the oil & gas upstream/midstream sector, with no fewer than five (5) years specifically on tank farm/storage terminal automatic gauging and overfill prevention systems.
• Mandatory certification: TÜV Rheinland or exida Functional Safety Engineer (FSE) certification in IEC 61508/61511 — candidates without a valid, verifiable functional safety certificate will not be considered regardless of years of experience.
• COREN registration as a full member (not graduate member) is mandatory; membership of ISA (International Society of Automation) is required as a secondary qualification.
• Verified working knowledge and prior direct specification/design experience with at least two named ATG vendor systems (e.g., Honeywell Enraf, Emerson Rosemount TankMaster, or Varec) — candidates must be able to name specific project tag numbers and system architectures from prior projects during interview.
• Proven API 2350 (Overfill Protection for Storage Tanks) practical implementation experience on a minimum of two completed projects, with documentation trail available for client verification.
• Valid hazardous area certification (CompEx Ex01–Ex04 or equivalent) demonstrating personal competence in ATEX/IECEx classified area instrumentation design — self-certification will not be accepted; must be from an accredited examining body.
• Current BOSIET/HUET, offshore medical certificate, and full readiness for immediate offshore mobilization on a rotational basis.
• Must be able to produce, unaided, a fully compliant loop drawing and cause & effect matrix during a practical technical assessment as part of the interview process.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Qualifications and professional certifications must be issued by recognised bodies, current where applicable, and independently verifiable.
• Expired, unverifiable or attendance-only certificates will not satisfy a mandatory requirement.
• Candidates must demonstrate recent experience on comparable oil and gas projects.
• Generic construction experience without direct tank, terminal, refinery, process-plant or offshore exposure will not be accepted.
• Candidates must be able to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, permits, risk assessments and applicable codes, and must produce clear technical reports in English.
• Candidates must demonstrate strong process-safety awareness, stop-work discipline, quality ownership and effective collaboration in a live brownfield environment.
• All offshore survival, medical and safety credentials specified for the role must be valid before mobilisation.
