We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Health, Safety and Environment Officer

Location: Wuse 2, Abuja (FCT)

Description

  • The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer at Popville Luxury Homes Limited is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective HSE management systems to ensure a safe workplace, protect the environment, and promote employee well-being.
  • This role requires a strong understanding of HSE principles, excellent communication skills, and close collaboration with all departments to foster a proactive safety culture.
  • The HSE Officer will play a crucial role in minimizing workplace risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, preventing incidents, and supporting Popville’s commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship across all sites and operations

Key Responsibilities
HSE Management System Development & Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and programs aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identifications, and job safety analyses to proactively address potential risks.
  • Establish and monitor HSE performance metrics, reporting progress and recommending improvements.

Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:

  • Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international HSE laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Prepare and submit required HSE reports, permits, and documentation to regulatory authorities.
  • Stay abreast of changes in legislation and advise management on necessary adjustments.

Training & Safety Awareness:

  • Develop and deliver HSE training, safety inductions, and toolbox talks for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns, workshops, and continuous engagement.
  • Ensure staff are trained and aware of emergency response procedures.

Incident Investigation & Reporting:

  • Lead investigations of all incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes.
  • Prepare detailed reports, recommend corrective/preventive actions, and track implementation.
  • Maintain accurate incident records and monitor the effectiveness of controls.

Environmental Stewardship:

  • Develop and implement environmental management plans covering waste management, pollution prevention, and energy/resource conservation.
  • Monitor environmental performance, conduct audits, and recommend sustainability initiatives.
  • Promote environmentally responsible practices among staff and stakeholders.

Emergency Preparedness & Response:

  • Develop, update, and implement emergency response and evacuation plans for all sites.
  • Conduct regular drills and simulations to test preparedness.
  • Coordinate with external agencies (fire service, medical, environmental bodies) for effective response.

HSE Audit, Inspection & Monitoring:

  • Conduct routine site inspections, internal audits, and compliance checks to identify gaps.
  • Prepare and present audit reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Support external audits and inspections as required.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, management, contractors, and regulators on HSE matters.
  • Promote open channels for hazard reporting, safety concerns, and improvement suggestions.
  • Represent Popville in HSE forums, committees, and regulatory engagements as needed.

Salary
N70,000 – N150,000 Monthly.
