We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Transaction Processing

Location: Lagos

About the Role

  • We are seeking a highly competent and results-driven Head of Transaction Processing to lead and oversee the organisation’s transaction processing operations.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, efficient and compliant processing of transactions, while maintaining strong operational controls, service standards and risk management practices.
  • The role requires a hands-on operational leader with strong attention to detail, analytical capability and the ability to coordinate teams, resolve processing issues and drive continuous improvement across transaction workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Transaction Processing function.
  • Oversee the end-to-end processing, verification, reconciliation and settlement of transactions.
  • Ensure transactions are processed accurately, promptly and in accordance with approved procedures and service-level agreements.
  • Establish and monitor operational controls to minimise errors, losses, fraud and processing risks.
  • Review and authorise transactions within approved limits and escalation frameworks.
  • Monitor daily transaction volumes, exceptions, pending transactions and unresolved discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Treasury, Operations, Compliance, IT and other relevant departments to resolve transaction-related issues.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of transaction records and prompt resolution of outstanding items.
  • Develop and maintain effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflows and control mechanisms.
  • Identify process gaps and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, turnaround time and customer experience.
  • Monitor team performance through clearly defined KPIs and operational metrics.
  • Prepare regular transaction-processing reports and provide actionable insights to Management.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies and risk-control standards.
  • Investigate transaction exceptions, operational incidents and control breaches and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of transaction-processing systems and automation initiatives.
  • Lead, coach and develop transaction-processing staff to achieve high standards of accuracy, productivity and accountability.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails for all transaction-processing activities.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of identified control issues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Banking & Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, ICAN,CFA or other relevant certification will be an advantage.
  • 7–10 years’ relevant experience in transaction processing, banking operations, financial services, payments, finance operations or a related environment.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a managerial or supervisory position.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-volume transaction-processing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of reconciliation, settlement, operational controls, transaction risk and exception management.
  • Experience with financial systems, transaction-processing platforms and/or ERP systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
