Job Title: Head of School

Location: Shasha, Akowonjo – Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

• The individual should be a competent and experienced leaderand a self-starter, who will provide professional, leadershipto the nursery/primary school. Priority consideration will be given to suitably qualified candidates who have worked in schools within Akowonjo and its immediate environs.
• The Head of School will provide overall academic, administrative, and operational leadership for the preschooland primary school. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and experienced education professional capable of establishing and maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, child development, staff performance, and school administration.
• The Head of School will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school and will report directly to the Proprietor.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, academic, and operational leadership for the nursery and primary school.
• Oversee the effective day-to-day administration and management of the school.
• Lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate teaching and non-teaching staff.
• Increasepupil recruitment, retention, parent engagement, and the overall growth of the school.
• Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, curriculum delivery, and pupil development.
• Develop and maintain a positive, caring, safe, and stimulating school environment.
• Establish effective systems, policies, procedures, and standards for theschool.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, staff, pupils, and other key stakeholders.
• Oversee the implementation of the Nigerian and British curricula, incorporating appropriate Montessori and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) methodologies.
• Manage school resources responsibly and operate effectively within approved budgets.
• Work closely with the Proprietor to implement the school’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess a B.Ed., B.Sc., B.A., HND, NCE, PGDE, or an appropriate combination of relevant academic and professional qualifications.
• A postgraduate qualification in Education, Educational Administration, or a related field would be an advantage.

Experience and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should:

• Have a minimum of 10 years of active teaching experience, including at least five years in a Head Teacher, School Administrator, or other senior education management position.
• Demonstrate a strong record of successfully leading and managing a nursery and/or primary school.
• Have sound knowledge and practical experience with the Nigerian and British curricula, Montessori methodology, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), child development, and early childhood care.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, administrative, and people-management skills.
• Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills, with the ability to build and sustain productive relationships with parents, teachers, pupils, and other stakeholders.
• Have a proven record of achievement and experience working with stakeholders to advance a school’s mission and objectives.
• Be innovative, resourceful, and financially prudent, with the ability to manage effectively within a budget and develop practical solutions when required.
• Have experience establishing or working in a growingschool environment; this will be a significant advantage.
• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, initiative, dedication, and a willingness to go the extra mile to ensure the success of the school.
