Job Title: Head of Legal

Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced and strategic legal professional to lead our Legal Department. The Head of Legal will be responsible for providing expert legal guidance, managing legal risk, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advisory to management and all business units on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Oversee litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution processes.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements (CBN, SEC, NDIC, etc.).
• Coordinate with external legal counsel when necessary.
• Lead and manage the legal team, ensuring continuous professional development.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess impact on bank operations.
• Support corporate governance and board activities where required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 8-12 years post-call experience, with at least 5years in the banking or financial services sector.
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations, CBN guidelines, AML/CFT laws, contract law, corporatelaw, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership, team management, negotiation, and communication skills.
