DEEKS Ventures – Our Client, The Nutritious Agrifuture Nigeria Ltd/GTE (NAFN) is a local entity of HarvestPlus Solutions based in Nigeria. Its principal mandate is to scale up the delivery and adoption of biofortified and nutritious crops and foods across Nigeria.

They are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Grants & Contracts Manager

Location:  Abuja (FCT)

About This Role

  • The Grants & Contracts Manager is responsible for the day-to-day financial and administrative management of donor-funded grants, consulting agreements, contracts, and subawards throughout their full lifecycle.
  • Working closely with Program Managers, HPS technical staff, IFPRI counterparts, Network Entity partners, consultants, implementing partners, and the Finance team, the position ensures that agreements are established, administered, monitored, and closed out in accordance with HPS, donor, and regulatory requirements.
  • The position serves as the operational focal point for contract and grant administration from drafting agreements and coordinating approvals through monitoring deliverables, reviewing financial reports, processing payments, maintaining documentation, and supporting audits.
  • The role ensures efficient execution of awards while providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of grants, consulting agreements, subawards, purchase orders, and contracts from initiation through closeout.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate execution of contracts, Statements of Work, budgets, amendments, payment schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate approval workflows and ensure agreements are fully executed before work begins.
  • Work closely with Program Managers to monitor implementation progress, deliverables, budgets, and contract compliance.
  • Review invoices, financial reports, supporting documentation, and technical deliverables before processing payments.
  • Coordinate timely payment processing with Finance while ensuring compliance with contract terms and donor requirements.
  • Maintain contract tracking systems and monitor milestones, expirations, amendments, deliverables, and payment schedules.
  • Serve as the primary liaison among HPS staff, IFPRI counterparts, Network Entity partners, consultants, vendors, and implementing partners.
  • Support proposal development by assisting with budgets, partner documentation, and agreement preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with HPS policies, donor regulations, procurement requirements, tax documentation, and record retention standards.
  • Prepare documentation for internal reviews, donor monitoring, and external audits.
  • Identify contract risks, resolve operational issues, and recommend process improvements.
  • Develop SOPs, templates, checklists, and training materials to improve grants and contract administration..

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Contracts Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in grants, contracts, finance, or project administration within an international NGO, donor-funded program, or development organization.
  • Strong knowledge of donor-funded grants, contract administration, budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, and compliance.
  • Experience coordinating with international partners, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/accounting and grant management systems.

Core Competencies:
The ideal candidate must have:

  • Strong expertise in Contract Administration, including contract coordination, compliance monitoring, documentation, and stakeholder management.
  • Proven experience in Grant Management, including grant administration, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and donor requirements.
