Job Title: Generator Mechanic

Job Description

• The required candidate should be able to troubleshoot and repairs alternating current electrical systems on generators, automatic transfer switches, generator controls and engine related mechanical failures and performs routine preventative maintenance, oil and filter changes and inspections on all generator and by-pass pumps

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair of generators.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with generators.
• Repair or replace faulty parts and components.
• Conduct generator testing to ensure proper functionality.
• Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines when working with generators.
• Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to solve complex problems.
• Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and technologies related to generator maintenance and repair.

Skills and Qualification

• Certificate in Electronics and Mechanics highly preferred.
• 7 – 10 years experience in installation, maintenance and repairs of generators and electrical appliances.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair generator systems.
• Experience with diesel and gas-powered generators.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and inspection procedures.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in tight spaces.
• Fluent in the local language of the duty station.
• Intermediate English skills (speaking, reading and writing) a must.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical loads for proper sizing of generators and ability to design and complete generator installations.
• Knowledge of material specifications and spare parts for diesel engines, alternators and control panels.
