We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: General Manager

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to: CEO
  • Supervises: Finance, Business Development, Operations

Job Duties / Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Internally relates with Board of Directors, Shareholders, Advisory Committees, All Staff
  • Externally relates with Consultants, Clients, Government, Banks, Lawyers, etc.

  • Provide leadership and management to Rescue Technologies Limited (RTL) that mirrors the vision, mission, and core values of the company.

Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic:

  • Ensures the development and implementation of proper operating plans, budgets, and broad policies governing all aspects of business operations and administration; monitors corporate performance and financial health to ascertain progress toward attainment of stated objectives.
  • Works with Strategic/Financing Partners/Directors to develop and structure the most effective financing options/solutions and models for its investments as they grow and develop.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of comprehensive and effective marketing plans for the Company.
  • Communicates/reports key information to the Board of Directors and other internal/external stakeholders as regards regulatory issues, marketplace needs, the competitive environment, business performance and other pertinent issues.

Operational:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management to RTL that aligns with the vision, mission, and core values of the company.
  • Works with the Managing Director/CEO to represent the organization to the local and international financial community, major customers, government agencies and shareholders.
  • Works with the Managing Director/CEO to direct and coordinate business activities to attain defined profit, return on capital & ROI targets commensurate with the best interest of shareholders/investors and other stakeholders.
  • Identifies business risks, critical issues & determine project goals and solutions
  • Ensures set up of outstanding systems and processes
  • Plays a major role with business development i.e., signing up key stakeholders, clients, government, and other service providers
  • Ensuring consistent quality of thought, work processes & deliverables
  • Ensuring delivery/execution of final deliverables; monitoring projects to ensure compliance with contract specifications and client expectations
  • Continuously assessing operating environment and clients’ business context to identify opportunities for new business, including those for cross-selling to other arms of RTL
  • Acting as senior advisor to project team members and client teams, and solving thorny project/client problems of a nature that may jeopardise client relationships
  • Responsibility for knowledge sharing & capability development in fields of expertise
  • Reviews business and project plans, activity status reports and financial statements to determine progress towards attaining objectives; revises/aligns Group and Company goals & plans based on current business realities and conditions.
  • Reviews operating results of the Company, compares with set objectives, identifies root causes of weak performance, and ensures appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Oversees the development and execution of marketing, sales, customer relationship and operations management strategies, business plans and supporting budgets & policies; translates knowledge and awareness of industry trends to immediate sales opportunities.
  • Develops and fosters effective collaboration between the various functional areas/departments within RTL and other Companies in the Group to ensure an integrated approach to providing high quality products and services to Group customers.
  • Provides oversight of RTL’s activities by providing the highest level of accountability to the Board of Directors; also ensuring compliance with industry, regulatory and Company policies and procedures.
  • Manages people assets and provides the necessary leadership, guidance, mentoring and counselling to ensure employees grow and develop their potential.
  • Performs other assigned duties as delegated by the CEO/Board from time to time.

Job Specifications (Education / Knowledge, Experience, Attributes, Skills & Other Required Details)

  • B.Sc / BA in relevant field; M.Sc / MBA is a plus
  • At least 10 years in strong operational role and at least 5 years in senior management role – proven work experience as a COO or relevant role
  • Understanding of core business functions including operations, technology, legal, finance, marketing, human resources, etc.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and operational implementation
  • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office
  • Outstanding organisational and leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
