We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Fish Farmer

Location: Ogun

Job Description

  • The Fish Farmer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the fish farm to ensure optimal fish health, growth, and productivity.
  • The role requires strong hands-on experience in commercial fish farming, particularly with Catfish (Hybrid, Clarias), Tilapia (Hybrid and Local), Carp, etc.
  • The ideal candidate must have five (5) years verifiable post-graduate experience. Knowledge of fish processing will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily fish farming operations across all ponds and production units.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal water quality and environmental conditions.
  • Manage stocking, feeding, grading, treatment, and harvesting processes.
  • Identify and respond promptly to disease outbreaks or abnormal fish behavior.
  • Maintain accurate records of feed consumption, stock levels, mortality, and harvest yields.
  • Prepare and maintain ponds, including cleaning, liming, and drainage.
  • Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity and farm safety standards.
  • Support fish processing activities when required.
  • Ensure farm tools, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained.

Minimum Requirements

  • HND / BSc in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Fisheries Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years verifiable post-graduate experienceas a Fish Farmer.
  • Proven hands-on experience managing the following species:Catfish (Hybrid & Clarias), Tilapia (Hybrid & Local), Carp, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of pond management, water quality control, feeding regimes, disease prevention, and harvesting techniques.
  • Understanding of fish processing (e.g., cleaning, smoking, drying, filleting) is an added advantage.
  • Ability to maintain accurate farm records (feeding, mortality, growth rates, treatments, harvests).
  • Physically fit, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
