Execution Edge Limited – Our client, specialized in the marketing, distribution and sales of electronic products from major brands, is in need of qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Financial Director

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos (On-site)
Job type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • This position will provide overall leadership, guidance, technical expertise, and team coordination to support the design and implementation of the company’s strategic initiatives in the areas of financial accounting and control, planning and budgeting, treasury, and risk management as well as tax and revenue management.
  • Oversee the articulation of the company’s financial strategies and ensure alignment with the company’s objectives

Responsibilities
Risk Management:

  • Establish and formalise an organisation-wide risk management framework and risk review process
  • Identify risks and financial implications of projects/ initiatives, and advise the CEO accordingly
  • Undertake an annual evaluation of internal controls and business risk assessment for the Board and Audit Committee and make improvement recommendations as required
  • Provide the Audit Committee with assurance on the organisation’s internal controls as the business expands

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Ensure analysis and articulation of company’s’ financial performance in line with relevant international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
  • Leverage the company business model for generating value and translate the operational metrics into key performance indicators to ensure strategic focus on the value drivers of the business
  • Coordinate timely preparation of financial statements and ensure the statements reflect the company’s financial position and comply with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Manage the interface between the company and external auditors.

Budgeting & Planning:

  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and monitoring of yearly budgets for company
  • Co-ordinate the financial planning process to support company growth and expansion plans
  • Assess and fully understand the financial requirements and tax implications of these plans and communicate these clearly to the CEO.

Capital & Cash Management:

  • Ensure the proactive management and monitoring of company cash-flows, ensure optimal cash management, and implement best practice treasury management practices
  • Ensure optimal capital expenditure and working capital management and ensure company has sufficient liquidity to meet its medium-term requirements and banking obligations
  • Articulate, develop and implement procedures and controls to ensure that the Company’s funding requirements are proactively anticipated and met at a reasonable cost Lead the company debt and equity-raising activities
  • Recommend and implement hedging options to manage foreign exchange and commodity risks
  • Oversee tax planning to optimise the organisation’s tax position and ensure full tax compliance
  • Ensure effective utilisation of the financial resources of the organisation including achieving cost efficiency in line with the organisation’s business objectives
  • Design and implement mechanisms to safeguard the organisation’s liquid and fixed assets
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with company banks and other financial institutions.

General:

  • Review and authorise key expenditures/ transactions of the departments in line with the company’s approved budget and manual of authority
  • Manage the human and material resources of the finance function to optimise performance and enhance output
  • Provide overall guidance, leadership and strategic direction to the finance team and maintain a finance organisation that is commensurate and responsive to the needs of the business at all times
  • Provide periodic reports on the activities and performance of the finance function
  • Be an ambassador of the organisation’s values of customer centricity, integrity, innovation, positivity, and passion; and work with the Strategy & Corporate Development Lead to drive adoption of the company’s core values within the department
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the CEO

Qualifications

  • First Degree or its equivalent in any discipline (preferably Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics)
  • Must have 12-15 years relevant experience (accounting or a finance-related function) with five (5) years in a senior management position
  • Professional accounting certification, (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA)
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
