General Position Summary

  • Under the supervision of the Finance Officer, the Finance Intern will handle various tasks such as scanning and uploading of documents, support periodic audits by providing required documents, tracking the movement of documents in and out of the finance department, ensuring timely filing and archiving of documents.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Follow all Mercy Corps policies, procedures, grant compliance and documentation requirements.
  • Quality Control of financial Documents for completeness and proper referencing before archiving.
  • Archiving of all physical financial documents after ensuring they are complete and fully approved and reviewed in accordance with the current AAM.
  • Match invoices/receipts with payment vouchers, GRN and other required documents.
  • Manage the Finance Archives and ensure monthly update of the Finance Archiving Index.
  • Keep all finance documents and reports properly filed, labeled and stored in a clear and easily accessible manner.
  • Scanning and uploading of all documents including audit sample documents on google-drive and finance shared local-drive both for current and future use.
  • Support audits (donor, internal, external, and statutory) by retrieving and re-filing documents in a timely manner.
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner .as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian. Mission
  • Be adaptable and flexible to take new tasks and new assignments as requested from time to time.

Knowledge and Experience

  • A minimum of Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or relative qualification.
  • Must be a serving National Youth Service Corps member.
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to multitask and process information into action in a timely manner.
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
  • Ability to use the following Microsoft Productivity tools: Excel and Word
  • Fluency in English Language.
  • Mercy Corps interns and volunteers represent the agency both during and outside of work hours and are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and Mercy Corps’ policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.

Working Conditions:

  • The intern will be expected to work 40 hours a week.
  • The intern will be paid a monthly allowance of N150,000
  • The intern will be entitled to full health insurance
