We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Coordinator

Job Summary

  • Responsibilities may require regular contact with children or young people; all overseas posts are level 3 due to potential unsupervised access to vulnerable children and young people.
  • Responsible for implementing and/or coordinating financial support functions for the Reaching Out of School Children project in Kaduna State.
  • Provide sound financial management and value-added support to budget holders and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for donor financial reporting and analyses.

Key Accountabilities
Finance and Accounting Knowledge:

  • Ensure clarity in roles and responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of donor and Save the Children regulations and policies, including Finance Policies, Child Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct, Fraud & Dishonesty Policies, Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy, and Whistle-Blowing Policy.

Financial and Donor Reporting:

  • Produce high-quality donor financial reports with FX analysis.
  • Create management reports and KPI commentary.
  • Provide financial analyses for actionable insights.
  • Support ad hoc financial analyses for leadership and stakeholders.

Payment Review:

  • Ensure all financial transactions in the state office are approved, authorized, and administered in line with SC & donor policies.
  • Process payments to vendors, service providers, and partners.
  • Manage all banking activities, maintaining accurate records and obtaining timely bank statements.
  • Handle monthly recharges processing and daily transaction matching on Agresso.

Financial Recording:

  • Manage electronic spreadsheets for funds disbursement.
  • Coordinate timely submission of monthly financial reports and other required reports.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and manual account books.
  • Safeguard all vouchers and financial instruments.
  • Submit monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations to CO Abuja.
  • Serve as the focal person for PROSAVE invoicing and reconciliation.

Cash and Budget Management:

  • Ensure timely and appropriate cash flows aligned with operational needs and budget forecasts.
  • Provide accurate financial information to the Field Manager for activity planning and forecasts.
  • Support monthly budget phasing, annual pipeline analysis, and BVA in collaboration with the line manager.

Procurement:

  • Represent Finance at Procurement Committee meetings.
  • Validate purchase vouchers within the Finance Coordinator’s limit.
  • Follow up on outstanding invoices and payments in field offices.

Statutory Regulations:

  • Make statutory payments to relevant authorities (e.g., PAYE, WHT, Pension deductions) and maintain adequate documentation.
  • Submit EFCC reports monthly to the Country Office.

Partner Management:

  • Review financial reports of partners/sub-awardees and reconcile accounts.
  • Provide administrative and technical support to partners to ensure timely preparation and submission of financial documentation.

Business Partnering:

  • Conduct state-level finance inductions for new staff.
  • Support training in financial management in line with SC’s financial policies.

Audit and Evaluation:

  • Assist with internal and external audit preparations and documentation.
  • Coordinate SC awards audits and ensure the implementation of recommendations.
  • Follow up on audit issues with support from the Humanitarian Finance Lead.

Safeguarding:

  • Provide support in developing a master budget for Child Safeguarding to address gaps in compliance standard.

Qualifications
Mandatory:

  • Professional accountancy qualifications – ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CNA
  • HND/BSc./MBA in accountancy
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in INGO
  • Proficient in computer skills with an excellent working knowledge of advance excel.
  • Perfect understanding of Nigerian tax laws and other compliance regulations.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a multi donor environment is considered a very strong advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of financial analysis and donor financial reporting.
  • Audit or tax consultancy experience.
  • Knowledge of Agresso FMS and ProSave will be an added advantage.
