Job Title: Export Clearing Manager – Ilela Border (Cement Industry)

Location: Lagos

Description

  • We seek to employ a Clearing Manager to play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods across international borders.

Responsibilities

  • Customs Compliance: The manager ensures compliance with customs regulations, import/export laws, and trade agreements.
  • Documentation: They oversee the preparation and submission of necessary customs documents, including import/export declarations, licenses, and permits.
  • Tariffs and Duties: Managing tariff classifications and duty rates is essential. They calculate duties and taxes owed on shipments.
  • Risk Assessment: Assessing risks related to customs compliance and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Coordination: Collaborating with freight forwarders, brokers, and other stakeholders to expedite clearance processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Addressing issues related to customs delays, inspections, and discrepancies.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of all transactions and customs-related activities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline Degree. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 18 years cognate experience in a Clearing & Forwarding Company in Nigeria.
  • Proficiency in international documentation, LC, shipping processes, and bill of lading.
  • Previous experience working with customs brokers, forwarders, and international partners
  • Must have Operational knowledge of the ports and government agencies.
  • Must know about clearing and haulage documentation for imports.
  • Must have appropriate knowledge of inspection agents, banks, shipping companies, and terminals.
  • Must have the ability to oversee customs and shipping companies for imports, temporary importation, and exports.
  • Must know the customs and excise HS Code and explanatory notes.
  • Meticulous, organized, and able to prioritize tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
