Job Title: Experienced Accountant

Job Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will manage the financial operations of the hospital, including budgeting, financial reporting, payroll management, and ensuring compliance with healthcare industry financial regulations.
  • The accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of the hospital and providing key insights to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Manage the hospital’s budget, including preparing forecasts and monitoring actual performance against the budget.
  • Handle payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment of staff salaries and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including preparing and filing tax returns and other required financial documentation.
  • Conduct financial audits and coordinate with external auditors to ensure the integrity of financial records.
  • Manage the hospital’s cash flow, ensuring that financial resources are optimally utilized.
  • Reconcile bank statements, balance sheets, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the hospital’s leadership team to support business decisions.
  • Stay updated on changes in healthcare financial regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and control costs.
  • Work with the procurement team to manage and review hospital contracts and vendor agreements.

Qualifications.

  • Must live within Port Harcourt, Rivers State
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) qualification is preferred
  • Proven experience as an accountant, with at least 5 years of experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and healthcare industry standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in managing hospital-specific financial processes, including insurance billing, patient accounting, and cost management.
  • Knowledge of hospital management systems and healthcare-related financial software.
  • Ability to adapt to changing regulations and financial processes in the healthcare sector.

Salary
N100,000 monthly.
