Job Title: Engineer / Technician – Soy Bean Oil Refinery Plant

About the Role

• We are seeking a technically competent and experienced Soybean Oil Refinery Plant Operator / Technician to take primary responsibility for operating, monitoring, and maintaining our soybean oil refinery plant at our Elele facility.
• The successful candidate will oversee the refinery process, adjust machine parameters, troubleshoot operational faults, and ensure efficient plant performance. The individual will also provide occasional technical support for minor repairs and troubleshooting of other machines and equipment used on the farm.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently operate and manage the soybean oil refinery plant and its associated equipment.
• Monitor and control the soybean oil refining process to ensure consistent product quality and efficient production.
• Set, monitor, and adjust operating parameters, including temperature, pressure, flow rate, processing time, and other relevant process variables.
• Monitor applicable refining stages, including degumming, neutralization, bleaching, deodorization, and filtration, depending on the plant’s configuration.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve operational faults, process abnormalities, and equipment malfunctions.
• Carry out routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on the soybean oil refinery plant.
• Monitor production output, oil yield, processing efficiency, and equipment performance to minimize waste and downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of production activities, operating parameters, equipment faults, downtime, and maintenance work.
• Ensure compliance with established quality standards, operational procedures, and workplace safety requirements.
• Provide occasional technical support for minor repairs, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of other farm machines and equipment.
• Identify potential equipment problems and report major faults requiring specialist intervention or replacement parts.
• Ensure proper use, handling, and storage of tools, equipment, and maintenance materials.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly working environment around the refinery and other assigned equipment.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A Degree, HND, or relevant technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in soybean oil refining, vegetable oil processing, or a similar industrial processing environment.
• Candidates with strong, demonstrable technical experience and relevant vocational training may also be considered.
• Practical knowledge of soybean oil refining operations, machine parameter settings, and process monitoring.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment faults and carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Basic to intermediate mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with industrial pumps, motors, valves, filters, pipelines, heat exchangers, and related processing equipment.
• Ability to maintain production records, identify process deviations, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
• Willingness to provide occasional maintenance support for other farm machines and equipment.
• Willingness to work on-site in Elele, Rivers State.

• The ideal candidate is practical, safety-conscious, dependable, and capable of taking ownership of the soybean oil refinery’s daily operations.
• The candidate should be able to identify problems early, make appropriate operating adjustments, perform routine maintenance, and escalate major technical faults when necessary.
