Electrical Technician (Plastic Manufacturing)

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on production machines.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults on injection moulding, blow moulding, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical panels, motors, sensors, contactors, relays, PLCs, VFDs, and other industrial electrical components.
  • Ensure all machines operate safely and efficiently with minimal downtime.
  • Perform routine inspections and electrical testing of factory equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and machine manuals.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and electrical standards.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to improve machine reliability and efficiency.
  • Recommend improvements that enhance equipment performance and reduce maintenance costs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an OND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • NYSC or discharge certificate
  • 3–5 years’ hands-on experience as an Electrical Technician in a plastic manufacturing company.
  • Strong knowledge of injection moulding and blow moulding machine electrical systems.
  • Practical experience with PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), sensors, electrical control panels, and industrial automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults quickly and effectively.
  • Good understanding of industrial safety practices and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
