Job Title: Electrical Team Lead – Injection Molding & PET Preform Systems

Job Summary

• The Electrical Team Lead is a hands-on, working supervisor executing and coordinating technical maintenance across high-speed plastic packaging production lines.
• This position manages the electrical reliability, safety compliance, and performance optimization of Husky and SACMI IPS systems, multi-cavity hot runners, and complex dehumidifying dryer infrastructures
• . The lead coordinates shift technicians to eliminate production bottlenecks while remaining actively involved in advanced automation and hardware level engineering diagnostics.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Technical Team Leadership: Direct, assign, and review the daily work orders of shift maintenance electricians and technicians. Provide immediate support and training on complex hardware diagnostics, control systems, and safe electrical practices.
• Husky & SACMI Platform Maintenance: Lead deep-dive electrical, electronic, and servo-drive troubleshooting for Husky injection molding presses and SACMI IPS machinery. Keep controllers updated, maintain backups, and swap critical circuit components cleanly.
• Hot Runner System Management: Direct the installation, wiring, testing, and meticulous PID calibration of high-cavitation, integrated hot runner systems. Quickly isolate short circuits, failed thermocouples, and damaged heater zones to prevent cosmetic or structural material defects.
• Dehumidifier & Dryer Upkeep: Take full ownership of auxiliary infrastructure electrical systems. Maintain desiccant dryers, material conveying systems, and mold dehumidifiers, focusing on regeneration heaters, dew-point sensors, and airflow blower controls to avoid moisture-induced scrap.
• Automation & PLC Modification: Troubleshoot and optimize programmable logic controller (PLC) configurations, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and advanced take-out robotics. Safely trace industrial communication network bugs (such as Profibus, EtherCAT, or Ethernet/IP).
• Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce a strict zero-tolerance culture for safety violations. Audit and implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, maintain absolute compliance with NFPA 70E (Arc Flash Standard) directives, and verify that all grounding and containment meet local code.
• Parts & Vendor Management: Manage the critical electrical spare parts inventory for Husky and SACMI components. Interact with OEM vendor tech support to resolve persistent engineering failures and order specialized parts efficiently.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Machine Downtime Reduction: Minimize emergency electrical breakdown hours across all Husky and SACMI production cells.
• Hot Runner Thermal Stability: Ensure zero part defects stemming from uncalibrated or failing hot runner electrical zones.
• Dryer Dew-Point Compliance: Maintain optimal auxiliary equipment performance to eliminate moisture-related scrap.
• Safety Execution Record: Achieve zero LOTO or arc-flash safety infractions under the team lead’s designated shifts.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a completed Journeyman Electrician apprenticeship.
• Experience: 4–6 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in high-output plastics manufacturing, with dedicated experience servicing Husky injection molding presses or SACMI IPS machinery.
• Technical Expertise: Proficient in reading industrial European and North American electrical schematics, diagnosing 3-phase power distribution networks, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and precision servo motion control.
• Specialized Skills: Deep, demonstrable expertise navigating hot runner controller hardware and configuring closed-loop material drying process controls.
