Job Summary

  • We are seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer who will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical and power systems, as well as instrumentation and control systems across clients’ Oil and Gas, Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution facilities.
  • This role is critical in ensuring flawless project delivery, brownfield modifications, operational asset integrity, and uptime, all in compliance with international standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and approve specifications for LV, MV, and HV electrical distribution systems, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS, generators, rotating equipment etc.
  • Perform electrical load studies, short-circuit calculations, grounding system design, and protection coordination using engineering software such as ETAP.
  • Supervise installation, commissioning, inspection, and performance testing of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation assets to minimize downtime and optimize reliability.
  • Specify, calibrate, and maintain field instrumentation for flow, pressure, temperature, level, vibration, analytical measurement, and custody transfer metering systems.
  • Design, configure, and integrate control and automation systems including PLC, DCS, SCADA, SIS, ESD, and Fire & Gas systems, ensuring functionality, safety, and reliability.
  • Perform loop checks, functional testing, and system integration tests during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and rectification of faults in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to restore normal operation efficiently.
  • Develop and update technical documentation including instrument index, datasheets, P&IDs, loop diagrams, cause-and-effect matrices, wiring diagrams, and as-built drawings.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, FEED, detailed design reviews, HAZOP, SIL assessments, risk assessments, and technical audits, providing specialist input on E&I issues.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, work packs, method statements, and procedures for E&I-related activities.
  • Provide technical support for procurement processes, including preparation of specifications, vendor evaluations, document reviews, FATs, SATs, and supplier audits.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure adherence to project requirements, quality standards, and HSE policies.
  • Provide E&I expertise during shutdowns, turnarounds, brownfield modifications, and new project execution, ensuring timely completion of all scopes of work.
  • Monitor electrical energy consumption and propose efficiency and reliability improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, hazardous area classifications (ATEX/IECEx), electrical safety standards, and company HSE requirements.
  • Actively participate in toolbox talks, incident investigations, and safety audits, promoting a strong safety culture within the team.
  • Ensure timely close-out of punch lists, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and technical queries, and maintain complete records of calibration, inspection, and maintenance activities.

Qualification & Experience

  • A minimum of a Second Class (Upper Division) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree is an advantage.
  • Must be COREN Registered.
  • 5 – 7 years of proven experience out of which 3 years would have been in the Oil & Gas Industry
  • Experience with HV, MV, and LV power distribution systems
  • In-depth knowledge of instrumentation devices
  • Working knowledge of automation & control systems – PLC, SCADA, SIS and DCS Systems.
  • Skill level proficiency in hazardous area classification and Ex-certified equipment
  • Proficiency with engineering software tools like AutoCAD, CADWorx, SmartPlant, ETAP, AVEVA, etc
